Sweet, thanks. now I’ve run into a problem. I don’t know how. I had a successful run yesterday using low res footage. Using the same exact footage, only redigtized as hi rez, I can’t seem to get the quad display to work under Multicam mode to do a test edit. I’ve used the same steps as the previous successful test. Any thoughts on why it won’t work?

okay! So it looks much better now. Now I also read that you gotta make sure that you log and batch capture the clips to be digitized and to make sure that each logged clip starts on 0 or 5? Is that referring to 0 or 5 frames? Is that even true? If I start it on the A, will there be a need to adjust it to another (X,D etc) if the interlacing occurs again?

    Thanks for the suggestions!

    Hi,

    edit play rate: 23.976
    Video Pulldown: Advanced, 2:3:3:2 pulldown

    it’s been set to : A

I digitized with these settings and it’s much better compared to the first test, with all the interlacing. However, it still doesn’t seem right, but I also don’t know if that is as good as it gets or if I am missing something else.

    Hey there,

Thanks for responding to my call for help. I was able to figure out the AniMatte effect. I had never used that effect before so I was unaware that I need to use on of the tools to cut the image out. Once I figured that out, I was well on my way. So, thanks!

Sorry for the delayed response to your specific post, but for some reason, my boss is Hell bent on having the VITC and LTC be matched. It is posing problems for our offline editors when the footage is digitized into the AVID. I think I may have cured the problem. Whenever we layback to the SR deck we have it set to SDI-VITC/REGEN, I don’t know how this is responsible for matching the LTC and VITC but it seems to work. I’ve stopped questioning rational reasoning for settings on these HD decks, because when you set something that seems like the logical choice, it never is. So, now I just go with what works and take notes on it. Thanks for all the input! It is a great help!

I use the AJA FS1 all the time at my work and man it is a GODSEND!! Something to consider if you plan on doing anything in HD as well. It allows you to be extremely versatile with whatever type of footage you have. just something to consider.

September 12, 2008 at 12:24 am in reply to: cloning to HDCAM-SR

that is what I was having it set to. EXT LTC/SLAVE. It would not accurately pull the timecode from the other deck. I would get the warning message: EXT LTC NOT READ.

I finally figured out that if it were to be set to, S LTC it would read the other decks timecode accurately. I don’t have any idea why or how this is happening but as long as I am getting accurate timecode cloned, with out errors, then I am going to go along with it. so basically, the steps as described in the manual, were of no use.

As a test, I patched the HDCAM deck to a Digibeta, using a DC but still keeping the TC. It cloned it just fine.

August 21, 2008 at 8:37 pm in reply to: Black and Coding tape on HDCAM-SR

I have encountered an issue that I am not sure how it occurred. I’ve been able to black and code a few tapes using the steps you provided me…however, I have come across a reference issue. I am not sure where this is coming from at all. This is what I have set:

    Under TC Menu

    TCR SEL – Auto
    TCG MODE – PRST
    RUN MODE – REC
    DF/NDF – DF
    TC2 – OFF

    VTR SETUP Menu

T04 INT AUD SG – Silence
T02 INT VID SG – Black

When I press REC/PLAY to begin it’ll run for a few seconds, all the while the STOP button blinks on and off (to my understanding means no reference is being seen by the deck) and then I will get a warning message saying to reference lock.

I’ve tried locking to LOCK 1 and LOCK 2 but still no luck. Suggestions?
