Is there not a company in Philly that recycles them? For instance, my company goes through a group called Media Distributors. This is where we purchase all our tape stock, but they also to stock recycling. They pick up our recyclable stock for us…I checked the website and it looks like they have an office in NY. I don’t know if that helps but it’s an option.

The guy who services out digi decks tells us not to use Maxell tape stock. Their stock wears on the heads more than say, Sony or the Fuji.
I don’t know how accurate that is, but considering that he opens digi decks up and maintains them for a living, I trust his opinion.

Just something to consider.

Actually, I forgot something…do you happen to know if the deck will automatically record in both LITC and VITC or is that something I will need to set. I’ve been trying to search the settings for the TC Generator to record VITC.

I hope it will do both rather than one or the other…your thoughts are much appreciated.

Hi Del,

Thank you for responding to my inquiry on the D5 deck.

In reference to question 1, we are using a patch bay set-up. Our HDCAM-SR deck has an internal black burst generator that I used to B&C a tape with, so I just assume that the D5 would have something similar. However, I will patch black burst into the deck from the patch bay…should I be aware of anything when doing it this way?

Question 2:

Yes, we are using an AJA FS1 converter for taking SD footage to UC to HD. As soon as my tape is finished B&Cing I will give the insert a test run…hopefully all goes well.
