I have Macs at work and PC’s at home/business. I have one Macbook Pro (which was provided to me) and also a Mac Mini (I bought it refurbed) as it controls and records from my Blackmagic ATEM TVS, when doing live events (bought it solely because of size!) I cannot afford a Mac for my business, as I build my own computers and can build one WAY cheaper than buying an iMac let alone a Mac Pro. I am working on learning some FCPX and also After Effects as well for work. I don’t really like OSX as an OS, things just don’t “make sense” to me for layout and just some really basic things (like why doesn’t the + button make something go FULL SCREEN!!) But I digress, when the rubber meets the road, schools don’t really “pay” for their labs, they can adjust tuition and/or taxes to pay for Apple products, those of us who run a business, money matters!!!
With that said, John, I get having a good work palette to pull from is essential!!

I actually watch my footage outside of Vegas and label clips by name of content, place those in specified folders and tree it out myself. I find that so much easier, because then the tree is not just inside Vegas, but on my computer the same way. That is how I like to do it….

I have had issues with nesting before, and had to end up rendering it out separately and then bring it into the main project anyhow, but nesting as you said would also work.

As you whittle it down, you can also, save a new version with media files trimmed to a new main folder. This CAN be tedious, but with space SO inexpensive these days, it can really be helpful. Especially if you decide you need something that you had decided to not use. If you have the old version, it can be accessed quickly. This will also keep your media size smaller as you go.

I have a Mac as well, and both Compressor and Media encoder. However, re-muxing takes way shorter time than either of those for the length of some of the clips (2 hrs).

This was totally my fault, I selected a file that was created by Ezencoder and not the original. The original worked fine!! Sorry for any confusion.
One last thing, any type of batch conversion in Avidemux?

Found another question, Vegas is seeing this a 1920×1088 now instead of 1920×1080 as it did prior to re-muxing. I found this really odd. In windows, it sees both files as 1920×1088, in Vegas the un-re-muxed file is seen as 1920×1080 but the remux is 1920×1088…

Any thoughts?
