It is actually a lot easier then you think.
1) Create a new text track. You can type any random letters because we will change that anyway.
2) Twirl down the main text layer and highlight the text track itself in the timeline. This should bring up a different set of controls in the controls window, one of which is the generator tab.
3) For generator type, select ‘date/time’
4) Turn off all the params you don’t want like the year, month etc…
5) Make sure you deselect the ‘use current time’ checkbox.
6) Go to the frame where you want the time to start.
7) set the ‘numeric time’ parameter to 300 and make sure your interpolation is set to linear for realtime action. This should set you timeclock to 5:00 minutes because every number represents a second.
8) Go to 5 seconds later in your timeline and set the numeric time to 0.Doing this should give you a 5 second countdown in realtime.
The numers I used for the example is a countdown from 5 seconds to 0. You can use any numbers you wish. Just play around and see what works best for you. Remember to set the 0 keyframe exactly 5 seconds ahead or you will not have a very accurate countdown.Good Luck!

We are currently testing with 10.4 and FCP5.0 in-house and have not run into any problems thus far.
I am not saying you won’t run into any issues but we haven’t as of yet.

I don’t have the manual in front of me but are you talking about the z-blur filter? If so, you can change the first dropdown menu in the effect palette labeled ‘view’ from view:normal to view:z map. I believe that is what you are looking for.

You chould be able to click the register button in the BCC banner that appears in your effects tab in the viewer window. If you do not see the register button in the banner you will need to make the window bigger and stretch the ‘parameters’ bar until you see the help button and the register button appear next to the title of the filter.
I assume this was originally purchased as a Try and Buy and that is why you need to ‘register’ it again with another user. This was a bug I thought was fixed but maybe I was mistaken. You shouldn’t have to register it more then once. Maybe this problem was caused again by the update to 10.3.9.

To get the filter to appear you have to drag it onto your clip. Click the FX7 banner in your viewer windows filter tab. If FX doesn’t open (it can take a while) then click the video tab in your viewer window and FX should launch.
to access other layers you applied to your wells in FCP, you need to add additional layers. Click on the ‘add 3d plane’ button in your timeline (bottom left button that looks like a diamond). Then you can click the little V2 label on that track and change it to any of thhe layers you put in the wells.
hope that helps.

Frank,
I work for Boris so I am currently trying to track the problem down. I recreated your crash in house today under a different user then I originally installed BCC for. Are you doing the same?
It seems that I don’t get the crash under my primary user but under a different one I do. Both users have administartor privledges and the permissions on the actual plugins themselves grant me access.
**UPDATE**
I was just about to post this comment when I decided to run the app Cocktail to repair my permissions. It seems that the 10.3.9 update caused all kinds of problems. Try to repair your permissions and see if that solves anything… worked for me.

Is this in an old project or does it happen if you create a brand new one too?
Are you working in 8-bit or 16-bit?
Is there any error message that gets displayed when you crash or does it just say “AE has unexpectedly quit”?
Is it any filter or just specific ones?
I just updated to 10.3.9 and have had no problems to speak of. I am running on 1.6Ghz G5.

I will be looking at C4 in house very soon. I will try to get more info as I do more testing. Please keep up the hunt as sometimes things get past our staff. You can always send additional questions/problems to sfisher at borisfx.com

When you apply Graffiti there should be ‘wells’ labeled Video 1, 2 etc… in your controls window underneath the Graffiti banner. drag a copy of the video you would like to use inside of Graffiti.
Launch Graffiti and now your image should be in the background track layer. You can click the little V1 icon and change to V2, V3 etc if you put more then one clip in your different wells.
hope that helps.

On your text layer go to the generator tab and play around with the user text generator. This will let number change randomly and stop where and when you want them to with some tinkering.
As for something disappearing. You can set a keyframe the frame before you want to have it disappear with the opacity set to 100. the next frame you can turn it down to zero. That will cause a one frame fade out which is so fast it will seem to disappear. You could do this with a mask too if you wish.
