Well, more precisely, the latest update. We have 5.5.1 installed and I was wondering if that is the latest?

Do you have the right plugins installed for AMA to read the XDCAM EX?

Here is the link to the AMA plug in page.

I don’t think that is it. The codecs where installed when 5.5.1 was installed. It is a brand new system and had no other Avid codecs installed.

What, ball park wise, is the recommended still size? We are working in a 1920×1080 project. Have a 12 core mac and a very good raid.

  • Yes FCP is $299. Previously the entire suite (FCP, DVDSP, Motion, Soundtrack, Compressor, Color) was $1000. 6 applications for $1000 versus 1 for $300. Simple division; the price has gone up!

Thats what I thought. I was just hoping for new, faster way to go from DVD into the Avid. Thanks though.

Bad phrasing on my part. Yes it is copyrighted material. A “screener” from a stock footage library that we use as a temp file and then when the edit is finalized we purchase the rights to the master and cut that in for the broadcast. A lot of houses are sending their stock footage on DVDs.

I’m trying to go the other way. To 10:1 transcoded.

I thought the same thing, should just be able to relink. But it is not doing it.

Ok, I was wondering why it created the “2” file. It must have hit the limit.
