  • Even if it is not their biggest money maker, or even close, doesn’t mean they aren’t making something off of it.

Thanks Michael, Is that storage needs or throughput? In other words I am trying to make sure our storage system is capable of 10:1 comfortably.

Ed, I have 2.5Tb of storage left. Its crashing on some other clips also. I thought it might be a spanned clip thing so I used Clip Browser to copy all files into one folder, exported out AAF-crashed, exported out MXF-crash. I’m going to try and make a QT (using DNX145) and then import.

I am linking to it via AMA and then trying to transcode to DNXHD 145. Crashes every time.

Thanks Job, I’ve only been on this gig 2 days and trying to suss out why we are having such a rough time.

So far, we are on an unsupported OS (will be installing a fresh, compatible OS and MC tonight) and using an unsupported Graphics card.

The system say “GeForce Family” is there a preferred model for Mac OS 10.6.3 and MC 5.0.3?

    Thanks for all the help!

Thanks guys. I will try all your suggestions. I had 7-8 crashes last night when I was simply adding descriptors to clips!

Another question. We have an ATI 5770 graphics card. I’ve heard that the nVidia cards are the way to go with MC5. Is that true?

I think I will do a clean install of the OS and 5.0.3 to start with. Then go through Michael’s list. I saw on the Avid compatibility matrix that 10.6.3, 10.6.4, 10.6.5 are all supported. Is there a preference for stability?
