I had this problem with the first DVD I authored. I exported an interlaced video with the (default) progressive setting. It plays back fine on my progressive DVD player, but looks jittery on a non-progressive players. Make sure that you are not using a progressive setting on your export settings.

I personally would use the DV files (4:1:1) since they are less compressed than the DVD (Mpeg2- 4:2:0) files, and the quality of compression on the DVD is variable between different encoders. If you use a camera/vcr to input the files you will end up with 4:1:0 instead of 4:1:1 of DV. Either way would proabably look great.

Without hearing it I am just making stabs in the dark here.
Again, a carefully adjusted EQ might do the trick. Just be careful not to cut out the voice frequencies or change EQ settings too much or they will end up sounding hollow, muffled or like an old AM radio. Also, if it is a very “Narrow” frequency, the notch filter might do the trick. Play with the frequency slider while the clip is playing until you find the center of the offending frequency. Sometimes a combination of a couple of things used in moderation will do the trick. I would suggest experimenting with the various plugins until you find a satisfactory result.

If it’s a “Low – Boomy” sounding echo you could try eq-ing the problem frequency. Play around with the center frequency until it lessens the effect. Also, gating with a slow cutoff might also help.

The video card is not used for the rendering process. It is the processor that does all the work.
As for performance, you would not see any difference between the two.

Hi Bob,
I would duplicate the audio track into audio 2. Then I would choose “Fill Left” for the original and “Fill Right” for the copy. This way audio track 1 represents only what’s in the left channel, and audio 2 represents the “right” channel sound. Now the volume levels of each individual source can be controlled, have seperate effects applied and panned in the stereo (mono in this case) field.

During the export it is assembling the final AVI from all the parts involved, including the previously rendered pieces. Anytime something needs to be computed is considered a render. In this case, assembling the non-rendered parts and the rendered parts to an AVI is considered “rendering”.

I would suggest putting the static wide shot on track 1 and your moving shot on track 2. Anytime the roving camera has an undesirable shot make a cut there and adjust the clip to the right until the next good shot starts. This will leave a space where track 1 will show through. This way no moving of the tracks are needed. Make sure not to move the clip while adjusting in and out points on the timeline or the timing will get messed up. Fades can be placed on track 2 and it will automatically fade to track 1 (between the two cameras). If there are 3 camera’s this can be done with 3 or more video tracks.

I was thinking that you might have captured everything in one pass. After this responce I am thinking that there might be an issue with the batch capture process. I don’t normally do shoots that require it. Mostly single shots for an hour or so.
Definitly try capturing a small sample of a problem area manually and see if it still gives you problems.
