    Adam,

Thank you again. I will try to follow your instruction, but since there is so much nesting going on a sample material would help a lot. Is there a good flowchart diagram somewhere online of how shaders can be nested within other shaders and to what effect?

If I understood you correctly the layer shader will have two layers – colorizer (top) and multishader , the colorizer should be applied in one of the blending modes that affect the color of the multishader. Colorizer in turn should have color shader with appropriate gradients to choose color from?

    Adam,
    Thank you as usual.
I was aware of this option, but did not realize it was that significant.

It’s a pity, but thank you a lot for all your help.

Thank you again for the help. Just by reading your answer it sounds quite right, I will look at your file in a few moments… The more I work with c4d the more I love it due to its shear number of the ways you can recombined the elements… the problem is to realize the very possibility of such innovative combinations. I wish there were better books on the subject…

Thank you for the link. This reference can be quite helpful for me, yet it is a pity, that such simple operation as scaling of 2d pattern can be so unintuitive…

Thank you for your reply. Your tip goes a long way toward the solution I was seeking. The one obstacle that remains is the problem of sequence – the setting hides some clones rather than changing the number of cloned objects and the results with any ordered sequence appear as gaps rather than shorter sequences. Any ideas on how to avoid it?

For example, think of 3D music meter with multiple fragmented bars indicating the waveform values at given frequency – so, let’s say, we have 10 bars, every bar made of up to 20 blocks. Is it possible by using mograph effectors to control number of sequential blocks in each bar?

  • Thank you again for you help. It is a pleasure to learn from those who DO KNOW.
