Sure,
first this, forget the 285 and get the 470.
Same price or less, double the performance.
Like having two Quadro 4000s
Second, your AE performance will drop, but most of AEs functions are CPU based so it doesnt matter that much.
I upgraded from a GT120 to a Quadro4000 and I dont really feel it, not in AE at least.
So essentially, the best “in the box” config today is Quadro 4000 as main card and GTX 470 (mod) as the DaVinci card using a Y-splitter.
Its a painless install on Lion, only thing you need to do is deleting the PowerManagement.kext and you are flying.
And no worry about power, I am also running 5 HDs and my MacPro5.1 is happyA slice of color…

Very good suggestion.
I would like to see that where the Color Mixer is.
Would be use much more too I guess.
It also should become part of the color setting for easier storage and copy paste..A slice of color…

Two things to consider :
1. You might want to use Media Express. If there is a newer one than the drivers Resolver brings, you need to reinstall that.
2. If you want to keep the old version, just rename it.

And if it is, did you delete the Apple.PowerSavejadada.kext thing ?
Get this first :

This will show you the CUDA supported engines found in your ystem and test them for you.
If you dont see a drop down menu in the very beginning, your 460 is not for Mac of something else is wrong.
If you see it and the performance is doooh, you need to delete that Powersace kext and reboot.A slice of color…

Moving element tend to shift color intensity, level and reflection of other colors nearby while they move.
In theory your qualifier needs to be animated accordingly
But if you get better results with AE, lets have a lock how you do it.A slice of color…
