Yeah, i am trying that too.
The Player has 720p and 1080i as options for the Component output.
It seems the TV is autosensing the resolution and changes accordingly.
The Decklink doesnt.
I tried all input modes.A slice of color…

Hey Magnus,
The idea is not to use 4K material but to make a 4K project and do the GPU work on 4K
playing the media is too dependent on other criteria.
But I agree, some 3×580 might want to double the amount of nodes 😉
Thats all it does actually, give you more of them , it wont play faster.A slice of color…

Hey Juan, thanks for the reply.
So what I did is setting up Component in the BMD system pref.
Connecting the cables and getting nothing in Media Express.
If I switch the Y cable to composite out and set it to that in the system pane, it works.
So, just to experiment, I switch back to Component.
I still see something, colorfull, distorted…but something.
I even tried connecting the Y-R and Y-B cables to Y which gives me a strong colorful overlay.
But as soon as I take the Y cable and move it from composite to Y component it turns black.
I tried every setting in Media Express, even the 3D ones…
No luck..
Copying the file is no option either…its a standalone player, no data access.A slice of color…

Thats exactly my point.
Maybe a simple divide into “Hardware/Software related” and “Production related” would do the trick.
Some of us doing complex TV shows, full features and VFX pipeline setups while others are still trying to get playback on their home computers.
Its a different story to get Resolve up and running and using it in client production.
It may sound snobbish that we don’t wanna play with the noobs, but frankly I think its BMDs job in the first place to make their customers happy and get the product to work and then, when workflow problems show up, we are more than happy to help.
Its just hard to follow when so many similar threads regarding the first steps show up in the same place.A slice of color…

Which is actually sad, because it could be tremendously useful to either truncate the RED files, make 2k DPX proxies or at least consolidate the media pool to the files used.
So far Storm or RedcineX have to do the work outside, having that in Resolve, grading from a , maybe even EXR half float proxy and going back to full debayer for final render would be great.A slice of color…

When you try the wheel in Scratch or just the Startup mode, does it move faster ?
Mine doesn’t…I don’t think its a Resolve thing.
