It wont take long to see Assimilate, Iridas and Nucoda (maybe even Film Light and Autodesk) to come up with low price alternatives I think.
I rather spend the money on a proper panel, actually.
We see the same development 3D, compositing and sound had over the last years.

  • Short answer, doesnt work.
You need at least one nVidia GPU powered card.
The cheapest and fastest internal solution today :
Go to eBay and buy a EVGA GTX 285 and a GT 120 from the Apple store.
Thats what i have and its running perfect.
    Pros : Price, reliability, noise
Cons : No warranty, very poor performance on the GT120 for everything else.
If money is not a problem, buy yourself the Quadro 4000 and keep the ATI for the UI and other apps.
Perfect solution : Buy an extendar, load it with Quadro 4800s and add a Quadro 4000 as your primary card.

  • Regarding the offline sync…
I have exactly the same problems…
Maybe its just me not used to the system, but its really far from intuitive 🙂
I tried a bunch of Quicktimes, timecode from 0 or one hour, doesnt matter.
Nothing scrubs in the Conform window.
I always have the scroll bar and can scroll through it, I also can select it as a source clip.
but when set to offline, nothing scrubs together.
Also i seem unable to load a DPX sequence as offline clip…is that normal ?
The same sequence has been loaded already into the media pool.
    Maybe thats the conflict.
But can I define or tag a loaded clip to be used as offline clip somehow ?

    UPDATE…

    HAHA..ok, its all me…its working now 🙂

January 7, 2011 at 4:07 pm in reply to: Wave bug on pressing reset buttons ?

Well, then either my Wave is faulty or something else is not working.

    Here it comes again…
I press the lower small dot reset button and RGB resets, thats fine.
I press the upper ring reset button and I hope this would ONLY reset the overall setting, and keep the RGB balance the way it was, but it doesnt.
I would understand if it resets the dial to zero and respect the positive and negative values of the RGB balance.
    But its nulls everything.
    With or without that setting.
Can anyone with a Wave please chime in and try that ?

I second this, it’s upside down.
Output fields should display both, normal pause should truncate or interpolate one and output a steady image.

    Good Morning,
Tanks for pointing me to this friendly article .
    Now back to the question.
Why does the luma or master reset also resets my RGB balance ?
It doesn’t make any sense to me and I lost quite a few gradings yesterday using it accidentally .
On our Scratch or in Color it’s pretty clear to use and I really like to keep both of separate .
Also it works as expected when double clicking the Y value only in the interface afaik.
Ring reset should only reset the dial , button reset the balance.

    Ahhh…thanks for explaining.
yeah, that makes a lot sense, I just didnt know there is an extra title for it.
I just had the pleasure to call those actions as the last step for “The good Doctor”
We are still in the process of getting it right from Arri adjusted LOG outputs set to P3 , going to a proper LIN master for the Blu.
Good thing you are into the technical stuff too, respect.
