    Hi

in Resolve 7.1, the “output fields when paused” setting works opposite to the way I would expect.

When it’s not checked, Resolve outputs only 1 field.

When it’s checked, Resolve outputs both fields.

I’m using HD 1080i50 as a video monitoring format.

The problem is fairly easy to diagnose : take an interlaced shot with lots of motion and look at it on a CRT monitor (it should jitter when outputting both fields), or take a progressive shot with very thin diagonal lines and look at it on a projector (the diagonal lines should not have staircases when outputting both fields). This cat’s moustache would do the trick.

Can anybody confirm Resolve behave the same for them ?

I WOULD expect Resolve to output both fields when
“output fields when paused” is checked!

    Sounds logically to me

[Holger Hessinger] “Sounds logically to me”

Of course my bad, I described badly the problem and reversed Resolve’s reverse behavior.

Here is the correct description :

When “output fields when paused” is not checked, Resolve outputs both fields.

When “output fields when paused” is checked, Resolve outputs only 1 field

    Sounds like semantics to me.

“Output fields” I would expect one field at a time, but not necessarily plural. If unchecked, I’d expect “Frames”, which of course if interlaced are plural fields.
Its a little different than the Kona menu protocol which might just be better English.

I second this, it’s upside down.
Output fields should display both, normal pause should truncate or interpolate one and output a steady image.
