    Hi Chris,

I don’t know which compressor you are talking about, but if it’s the one from FCS, it does not accept MTS files.
    Any other idea?

Well, I think honestly that aim cut out for this business, working now in it for 10 years, coming actually from theatre, I am an autodidact who learned the hard way by trial and error. And yes, it is a tough business. But, as we say in Germany: the tone makes the music. It’s just the way you replied I find rather rude and i don’t get rid of the impression, it’s a valve for certain people. If you are so short on your time, why even bother to explain him the right way to it? And if you have that time, it’s just nicer and also will find more open ears, if you say, what you have to say in a modest way. Where I live and work, we feel we are in this together- and that is how I understand the COW. I am not attacking you, just sharing my opinion, that’s all.

P.S.: Try once the AE way – in a similar problem HD to SD DVD I had – this was the solution.

    Wow, wow, hold your horses!
I agree, some questions are not necessary.
But different levels of knowledge, different questions.
I agree, there’s too much dissing here sometimes, no patience and
too much judgmental attitude! The guy asked nicely and politely a question, no need to read him his rights!
I would get an answer like this, i would feel guilty of being born in the first place.

We are all in here because we want to seek answers & help others,
I think it’s not the place for ego competition and “who can pee further contests”.
Sorry, for being a bit emotional now, but I just feel it’s not justifed!

    1. Drop Footage to make new AE Project with exact length

    2. Cmnd+K open Settings dialog => set the settings you want e.g. PAL 720*576 (4:3)

    3. Select Footage in Time Line and Press Shift+Option+Cmnd+H to automatically resize footage

    4. Press Cmnd+M to make Movie

    5. In the output settings define which codec you want it – best here for compressor go for Apple ProRes

    There you go!

    Yes, please, keep me updated.
From own experience and from feedbacks on the COW, I do know,
that Compressor is not doing a good job in downscaling. Those staggered lines you experienced exactly comes from that. Also: AE is a lot faster in ds than compressor.
But try both and see what bakes the Cookie for you.

Do you have AE? If yes, I’d really go for downsizing the footage in AE to SD, and then encoding it for DVD in Compressor. Settings to best.
