So, is there anything I can check first, before I’d dive into this Abyss? That it might be solved easier, than full re-installation.
By the way: will my contents remain, or all those 40gb will be gone also?

[Mark Suszko] “I think I would re-load them in chronological order, as they patch each other’s faults in sequence.”

What do you mean by that? Don’t get it.

Archived you mean, if backed the installations for those plug ins up and have to re-run all the installations?

    Thanx a lot.

If I uninstall, and then install FCS from the ground again – are all my plug ins, such as Red Giant Stuff, lost and have to be re-installed as well?
Thanx for shedding light on this.

    HI John,

no I never got an answer, but by now, I did shoot the doc by now with the AF101 with lenses without IS.
    I had a wider and a tele lens (14-55, 100-300 I think).
Since I shot about a dance festival, I had also a lot of shows shot from a tripod.
The handhold things were ok, but on the edge – even though I have a very calm hand for handhold.
With the tele lens it becomes Blairwitch Project on Alzheimer.
If that is the look you are going for, then it’s ok 😉
I just shot some small doc on The little Panasonic TM900 – a little miracle camera, of which I am the happy owner now.
When I used the fantastic IS of this small beast, I realized how tough it was without.
If you go for handheld work and you have a zoomlens on it, go for the IS, you safe yourself a lot of headache!

I installed from FCP Disk, but over my previous FCP 6 version on my computer.
    So should I de-install the 7 and re-install again?

    Sascha

  • Try trashing all the FCP preference and plist files.
Download Applejack Software (free), install it, shut down computer, restart with holding down Command + “S” – now u are under the hood (black screen), type: applejack auto reboot
Wait 5-15min depending on how much is to be repaired. then machine restarts itsself.
Tr y again to run FCP

Yes, I do have the latest Version available of 7 – before Apple left us in the rain 😉
    And my OS is 10.6.8

    FCP: 7.0.3

Well, that is far to high, try once a setting somewhere between 120-140%.
Besides, what sells the shot is not only the speed, but the look: Desaturate, Put Sepia Tint, scratches, dirt, make the picture wiggle and jump…then it will look more like20s footage.
