    Hi there-

Just purchased a new refurbished laptop from Apple and installed FCP 6.06 on it. I was frustrated to see that after about 15 minutes of editing (not heavy graphics or anything like that) was getting rainbow wheel and crashing. After switching to the version on my desktop, the same thing was happening!

Here’s some details: Running snow leopard OS on both, plenty of hard drive space and RAM, editing in Pro Res 422 with footage from a Canon 60D.

Anyone run into the same problem once installing the second license of FCP? Help!!

Try trashing all the FCP preference and plist files.
Download Applejack Software (free), install it, shut down computer, restart with holding down Command + “S” – now u are under the hood (black screen), type: applejack auto reboot
Wait 5-15min depending on how much is to be repaired. then machine restarts itsself.
Tr y again to run FCP

Your hard drive is going to sleep. Go into your System Preferences/Energy Saver and uncheck put the hard Disk(s) to sleep
