There I have a question in this context, Shane:
I am about to get a HacMac Best, that will have MacOSX 10.8 installed, since it will also have to run Thunderbolt.
The Computer has a 2 GB NVidea 680 Card.

Will I still be able to run my beloved FCP 7.0.3. on this machine, or not?

No, I am more than pleased with the performance of the Hackintosh. Besides, I worked all my life on MAC and I am afraid I am not ready in this moment for a new operating system.

That is strange. I worked recently with the FS100. I guess, the card structure is similar to the FS700.
And L&T was fine with it.
You just have to make sure you install the right third party plugs to make it work.
Did you check on the SONY site for those? I installed all the plugs for EX1 and other SONYs and I usuall do not have a problem.
Only with the new PMW150 shooting in 50mbps, L&T strikes, then I had to do it with the stand alone App from SONY to convert. This worked fairly fast and reliable, even though I do not like the User Interface of that App.
Besides that, you can use “ClipWrap” a very good Stand alone App to transcode AVCHD footage.

Hallo to everybody. Thanx so much for all the good and informative suggestions!
What I did: I deleted (long process, since FCP did not do that well), all the markers on the clips in the TL and left them only on the MasterClips in the Browser.
Then I took all the Sequences I do not need in the current project and outsourced them into own projects.
Both things together did the job: I went down from 145MB to 40MB. Seems to be perfect size for now.

Again: Thanx to everybody! C.O.W. rocks! And you guys make this site such a valuable tool for all filmmakers.

Thanx Nick for your long reply!
I will try the safe copy/paste way you suggested first.
I am sure, something is not right and it is not supposed to be that big.
Before I did a feature, that was not much less than this, but had only 45MB.

Will keep you all updated how this method turned out to be.
Just have to do it tomorrow…gotta leave for a shooting.

How do you monitor your clips? On the computer screen? What is the source footage, sequence settings of your material?

No, I actually compared the time, the XDCAM Browser software needs to ingest the material into FCP and the time PPro needs to confirm the material the moment you drop it on the TL. The first one needs on my system a little longer, but minimal.

That was it! Thanx. But actually the conforming time takes longer than getting it inserted into FCP…so in that case FCP 7 is faster to work with those files.
