Hi Marc,

I am honestly always a little confused by this kind of answers:
Yes, I do know, that it was supposed to be shot different.
What exactly does that tip help me when I am facing this kind of rushes?
It’s a little bit like coming to a traffic accident and telling the bike driver bleeding on the floor:
You know, you should wear a helmet.
True, but rather not helpful in the situation.

The De-Flicker filter exist to deal with problems, that were made during principle photography.

Life is “Fauda”, so is film making…things don’t go perfect, not even on the biggest sets.
Part of us post people, is to fix it & deal with it.

Regarding Advanced Settings: Yes, I figured that as well, since the other options are Timelapse and Neon Light.
Also, that tweaking those will give the best result is something, that I was able to conclude on my own.
I simply asked, wether somebody dealt with similar situation and can share his settings.

That’s it. Very simple.

given, that they both identical in length and structure:
Lock video in the one you wanna replace audio in and delete entire audio content.
Go to other TL, and copy all Audio, back to first and paste it in.

Hi Michael,

of course, I agree 100%.
On my Hackintosh I do run a NVIDIA 980ti 6GB.
But for Mac series you have Radeon.

Anyways Apple cut us off in the future with their refusal to keep supporting NVIDIA.

I did some test with pretty shocking results:

Exported files from FCPX, PPro, Media Encoder, DVR from the MBP2017 (RADEON Pro 560 4GB) and my Hackintosh (NVIDIA 980ti 6GB):

FCPX export: the MBP is the clear winner (about 25% faster)

Media Encoder: it’s a tie, more or less the same (MBP a little faster)

but now!!! PPro export -> Hackintosh: 42seconds / MBP2017: 4min05sec (6 times slower!!!)

and DVR export -> The Hackintosh is 3 times faster than the MBP

I might have found a solution to the issue.
Not 100% sure yet, have to check how consistent it is:

Go to Preferences -> System -> General and switch off the option “Use Mac Display Color Profiles for Viewers”

Please, let me know, if you have any suspicion, to what this could be caused by.
The issue drives me nuts for real.

It’s a nightmare to edit with this black frame flickers.

Hi Michael,

I did also a checking with the Blackmagic RAW SpeedTest App:
My set up can deal in “Metal” setting with BRaw 3:1 up to Full 4K in 60fps with a breeze,
so I doubt that an Apple HD ProRes Proxy files would cause such flickers (on the editing page with 0 effects set to half playback resolution).

Also: On my external grading monitor it’s not flickering at all. Only on the GUI. So, I don’t think it ‘s cause of a lack of beef in either GPU nor Software Version of the NVIDIA Driver.

Hi Michael,

Thanx for the detailed answer.
Regarding the OS: I’m on 10.13.6 so it should still
Support NVIDIA.
And regarding going back to 15:
I made the, admittedly, huge error to not back up my data base, since I never had an issue updating.
So, I still have DVR 15, bit I doubt the Data Base is backward compatible.

Or is there a way?
