I have to fix it now – no time for negotiations – our computer specialist who had contact with them is out of town.
I try now to export different codecs.
The weird thing is, that on the Preview Canvas in the Timeline it just looks fine! -

Yes, but also check with them about the Apple proRes option.
I do not know Avid very well, but likely they will have in the newer versions an option to export to ProRes as well. If not, an Uncompressed 8Bit or 10Bit format will be fine. The animation Codec also always worked great for me.Greetings,

And if you encode in Compressor, apply the “Best Quality 90min” Settings. Make sure, in the Audio Section in the Inspector window to adjust the “Dialog Normalization” to -31dBFS and the “Preprocessing” / “Compression Preset” to None, otherwise the encoded sound will be quiet low on the Volume.

Well, the other option contain also an MP4 – no good for a master. Also a version on Tape – does not help you either. Any Uncompressed format will help you best – and apple ProRes in Hi Quality does a very good job.
The question from which application they will render you this file out? Do they work with FCP as well?
Then it’s no problem. Also After Effects has the option for Apple ProRes files. About other Apps I do not know.Sascha

Looks quiet complicate. Does your final DVD has to be in NTSC? I do not know too much about that, for I am living in PAL land.
I assume, that your original timeline with the EX1 Footage is in the XDCAM Codec?If yes, I would first export the whole project as QT with Apple ProRes HQ Codec.
Put that one into the Compressor. Drop the 90min Highest Quality setting on it. Make sure you set the “Dialog Normalization” to -31dBFS and set the “preprocessing / Compression Preset” to “None” (Both are in the Audio Adjustments of the Inspector.At what point during this process you switch the frame rate to NTSC – I would not know – as I said, I am not from the NTSC Planet. But I would take a wild guess: Do the frame rate conversation after you rendered into ProRes, back in FCP – with Nattress or something like that.

Hmm, if I understood you right, you are mainly asked to make a DVD from that material?
So, I would suggest to ask them for an Apple ProRes HQ File.
This you can encode then in Compressor into a Hi-Q MPEG File for the DVD.Make sure you encode the file for the DVD in Compressor, not in FCP – the result of Compressor is much better.
