Dragging a clip to a outside the existing tracks will create a new track with the same specs as that of the clip. Dragging the clip to and existing track will cast the clip into the existing track’s format.
However you can change the properties / format of the clip through interpret footage. You cannot change the format of an existing track in the sequence.

Thanks. That is a very useful tip indeed. In fact I color the clips that require modification later. Markers are unreliable as they move away with ripple. I wish there was something like go to the next same color clip.

Obsolete only means that that they use old tech. May be not use 32/64 bit processing. However they they do work but at the cost of the CPU and not the GPU. Adobe plans to phase out all such CPU based effects in the future and have put them in the Obsolete bucket.

Consolidating Duplicates is a silent worker. Before and after consolidating duplicates, please check the number of clips in the project folder. If there are duplicates, the count should reduce. Obviously, duplicate files in the OS aren’t considered duplicates.

The best practice is to have smaller set of logical nests all lined up on the master sequence. Common layers can be on the master sequence. Having one nest for the entire sequence will only make it look clean. No benefits.

With sufficient RAM, cache and RTX 30xx up cards with more RAM, Premiere Pro is quite stable these days. The chances of crash becomes less than 0.01 percent.
My observation is that, Ppro crashes when –1. Very large images (6-8K) are on the timeline and have keyframe or effects.
2. Dated video codecs
3. Mixed codecs
4. Uncleaned cache
5. Untested plugins on different dimension nests

I mean, I wanted to speed up the render for a long format sequence. I was wondering if I could achieve the same with some lumetri LUT.

On repeated edits on the same set of footage, the cache gets fragmented as hell. Dedicate a folder on an free SSD drive for all cache. Delete them frequently. It may take a while to rebuild the cache, but it is worth the wait. Depending upon your CPU / GPU, use proxies and low res playback.

Ha ha! We old gen always tend to find the new gen lazy. For the lazy lot we always ensure the internal cam mics are on, on all cams. Then leave it for plural eyes to sync.
In my last shoot, I made a mistake of not broadcasting the camera format to all my DPs (the new gen). I got back footage in multiple format from SD to 4K in various formats, bit rates, color balances…I had my lesson.
