Hopefully this puts a stop to the daily release of xyz Lens Flare packs 🙂

Yeah, totally agree. Simon’s tutorials are great. Personally I feel his stuff should be added to the COW Tutorials Site/Podcast so that it can reach the maximum number of users (obviously if Simon is cool with doing that).
Right now they’re kind of getting lost among the various posts on this forum. I hadn’t looked in for a few days and totally missed his latest one, but if it’d had been on the COW, it would have shown up in iTunes.
Think about it Simon. And thanks for the tuts so far!

Thanks Brandon.

August 23, 2013 at 9:56 pm in reply to: Premiere or FCPX, still hating FCPX’s timeline behaviourWe are looking for an expert FCPX ADULT movies editor . Great opportunity to become part of an established adult web company . Editor MUST be able to work on Motion/AE and GreenScreen footage . Plus should be able to create custom Authoring , trailers, credits etc for DVDs .
FCPX/Motion does have a great Keyer.
Have to say I’m a bit surprised that a skin flick would need someone in post pulling Keys…
And DVD Authoring? Who is still buying porno DVDs?

Andy,
I guess it’s just something to get used to. Would prefer to hold down a Modifier that didn’t double up as Multiple Select though.

Thanks Simon.
I just realised that I needed to activate Snap from the Menu – I had just turned it on for the Timeline. I actually want it to Snap to Grid with Overlays off, as I turn them off until I need to align something.I guess I need to add another feature request for that.
After reading your response and being unable to get Shift to constrain the movement along an axis, I found that you need to click and hold before holding down Shift. Is that how it works for you? I find it pretty fiddly to do this with a Pen. Also finding it easier to move along X as opposed to Y.
Or is it just user error again?

Your sphere trick is fantastic – it never even crossed my mind to use it for something like this. I really liked the use of Caustics to simulate paths/terrain on your planets surface.
It blows my mind that you could actually fake a more elaborate 3D space scene pretty convincingly with some replication and clever comping/camera work. The toolset really is phenomenally deep.
But people just don’t want to know. I saw someone messing about with Precomps and manually staggering design elements in AE today, working on a broadcast open, and couldn’t help shaking my head – it would have taken him 30 seconds to get things the way he wanted using replicators.
I wonder if the MacPro update release will have any major additions. At the very least they should add an In Action page to the site and feature guys like you who really push the software.
Btw, hope you saw Mark’s tip of the hat to your Link posting on the latest episode of Macbreak Studio 🙂

Mistakes: Just Keyframe Opacity.
Accidents: Ditto.
Loose: Keyframe Opacity and Position to animate off screen or use a Throw Behaviour.
Free: Same as Loose. Why not look at the inbuilt Text Behaviours inside Motion? There are a LOT of options. Click on the Behaviours icon (the cog) on the right side of the UI and explore the various Text Animation/Simulation options.
You could make something far more interesting with almost no effort at all. Bear in mind that you can combine multiple Text Behaviours to create very unique animations.

Are your Text Behaviours and Effects starting at the same point in time? You can expand the Timeline view to check this.
