That’s an interesting idea. I’ll have to try that. Thanks.

That’s really helpful. I actually ended up bringing all the geometry from the virtual set project into my matchmove project and scaled the world to fit. Works wonderfully now.
Thanks!

Sorry I’m probably not explaining things well because I’m so out of my element here. The situation is that I have a virtual set that’s already been set up for me to composite the talent into. What I need to do is get the camera data into that C4D scene so I can render the background and do the comp. The problem is that when I do that (either via Lightwave scene, C4D python script, or AE) it’s as if the camera and it’s motion path are tiny compared to the rest of the scene.

Thanks for the response Ted.
I had originally tried just copying and pasting everything on the timeline and pasting it into a comp in AE but that gave the result I wrote about above. Same with importing the project via File>Import. Normally (without using “Replace With AE Comp” on anything) that works perfectly.
I tried to import the Premiere sequence from within AE via dynamic link and I get a .prproj file that isn’t usable. AE won’t let me drag it into a comp and even if i could it appears to be one solid piece. All I can do do is view it as footage.
I also tried it with a different project, one without any “Replaced” clips on the timeline. That one gave me a piece of footage I could drag into a comp but that’s of no use to me. I need the individual clips for grading. Is that normal?
Forgive me, I’ve been using AE for years but I’m new to Premiere. I should state that I’m running AE & Premiere Pro CS 5. Perhaps this is an issue CS 5.5 has addressed?

I don’t have AE in front of me right at this moment so forgive me if this doesn’t work:
You could try pre-composing the layer and it’s luma matte and apply a matte choke to the new pre-comped layer.

Are you playing this exported file in QuickTime?
If so, it sounds like a problem with the gamma settings of your exported file. Or, more accurately, a problem with how QuckTime is displaying it.
Try opening QuickTime preferences and check the box at the bottom of the ‘General’ tab called “Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility.” That is, if that is not already so.

February 3, 2010 at 11:19 pm in reply to: quicktime export problem with “freeze frame” stillsI did some testing and I think your problem might be the ‘Field Dominance’ setting for your sequence.
You said that the sequence settings are 1440x1080i. If you don’t already know, interlacing is something that should avoided like the Black Plague. Everything will look fine in FCP because FCP does it’s own de-interlacing of the displayed footage.
With your sequence open, go to Sequence>Settings or command-0 and change your field dominance to ‘None’. You’ll probably have to re-render but such is life. Then just export with current settings and see how it does.
It worked for me. I hope it does the same for you.
