looks like gradient wipe to me. you just have to come up with the gradients

  • forgot to say that if you are working with footage that’s the same size as your comp and you don’t want it to move you don’t need the value + statement. I’ve been working with HD projects that are full of stabilized and positioned sd footage in windows. sorry for the confusion

  • Sounds much to complicated for me. When I stabilize footage so I can work on something or add something I always expand the dimensions of the comp where the stabilized footage lives then do my work. I then then drag the comp into a standard size comp and add a simple value+ expression to the nested comp’s position property. This restores all movement to the original footage and fits it back in the frame.

    something like this:

    value + comp(“NestedBigComp”).layer(“stabilized footage”).anchorPoint

  • you’ve got a fields problem. When creating animated masks over interlaced video it’s important to temporarily double the frame rate so you can see every field

Then change it back after you have completed the masking.

create a new camera. set the zoom value to something like 10,000, it will default to basically the same view you get with the front view. Then you’re set.

    or… just use 2D only.

you also may want to set the transfer mode for both layers to alpha add

I have all my 3rd party plugins in 6.6 in a sub folder called third party. I then created an alias, you can use a shortcut if you’re on windows, and put that alias in the 7 plugins folder. No copying required, and any plugs that needed to be updated to work in 7 will also work in 6. Saved a bunch of time and disk space

i’d check out boxx and 1beyond. Saw them at NAB last year and they were really hot.

intel mac version of AE is rumored to be be in the works as well as an 8 cord macPro. that might be something to consider.

i always work at 864 X 480 (or 486) so that the scan lines of any imported video don’t get reinterpreted. this keeps the image cleaner if there is video involved in the comp that has not been scaled down. Never liked working at 720 X 540 because of the scaling scan lines problem
