    Hey,

This might be hard to explain but I’ll do my best. I am emulating the “jacob’s ladder” effect. I have 2 MAIN pictures that are 2430×1380 (1=Front, 2=Back) and I’ve cut out both pictures with 270×230 (9×6 grid) blocks. I have then married the Each Front and Back block into Their own (270×230) 3d comp (front 0,0,0) and (back 0,0,1). Then I have a 3d ROW comp that I brought in an entire row into (9 pieces) and then animated these to do the “jacob’s ladder” thing. I Then did all the rows and put all 6 of them together in a big comp DIALING in all the positions.

On using this effect I get a seam issue where all the blocks have faint light lines through them all. I can see through to the background underneath it’s as if they are not lined up correctly. I can also see lightly through the pixel edges and it’s just frustrating… I have dialed in 0,0,.01 into the back pieces. Same problem .. Anyways, I have found a work around which is to place the MAIN pictures comps and fade them in after the ladders is complete, but it cheapens this effect greatly .. anyways, If anyone has suggestions or questions I would love to hear from ya ..

    Thanks in advance.

You can’t avoid that. It’s AE’s filtering on 3D layers. Only setting layers to draft mode can minimize the effect somewhat.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. If you’re serious about this stuff, learning a 3D program might be more efficient then turning prayer mills for AE.
