    Hi Sandy,

Unfortunatly, this issue was never resolved, and I am disappointed the issue remains in CS4.

A colleague of mine was in talks with Sony about the issue and I believe the conclusion was basically “live with it”, which is somewhat disappointing. It is something I have come across in several consumer Sony products now, and its a shame they don’t recognise it as an issue that requires attention.

    Regards

    HI Margus,

Thanks for the response. I have tried this on two units with the same result.

  • I am running the same setup at present on a dual 2.8 Xeon Quad core Mac Pro running a Decklink 2 with the 6.7.2 drivers.

However, when I capture uncompressed 10-bit HD using the Blackmagic preset, the footage requires rendering when dropped onto the timeline.

Have have tried the same preset on a slightly older system running the same drivers and 6.0.3 version of FCP and this is fine, so I have a feeling that it may be linked to the 6.0.4.

Can anyone else confirm that they have tried this configuration and preset and got it to work successfully with the Blackmagic 1080i 50 10-bit uncompressed preset?

    Regards
    Sam

Which ‘Easy Setup’ option are you using?

I agree with Conner on this matter – CS3 is NOT good on a Mac.

However, certainly in relation to Leopard support, Adobe have said that it is not fully supported yet, and an update is due to fix some of the bugs that have been reported so maybe performance will improve as a result of these?

I still prefer Premiere on a PC to be honest (and never understood why it doesn’t cross over in the same, smooth way that After Effects and Photoshop etc has done in the past…)

Yeah, this is the same result on three systems; two of the same spec (DG33FB Intel motherboards, 2gb RAM, tried both ATI and Nvidia graphics cards etc etc) and an old HP XW9300.

I’ve tried to be as thorough as possible in eliminating what it could be, and so far the only constant is the Sony devices as detailed above.

SHi Conner, thanks for the reply.

No, the freeze is definitely appearing on the final tape (played back on a different deck).

The systems I have tried this on are all brand new and just installed so there is no anti-virus etc etc on them at all – believe me, such programmes on an editing system are the bane of my life!

One thing that I have had problems with in the past with audio capture is the type and standard of mic being used. In particular whether the mic is a stereo or mono and how this is set up in the mixer/camera. The smaller stereo jacks are generally a big no no for decent quality sound

I think the issue is that the file names you mentioned are types that are for exhibiting and transporting finished projects as opposed to working with them for editing.

Each format has their purpose and is for either recording/editing or exhibiting. Most of the formats such as Xvid etc are heavily compressed and are not suitable for editing which is why editing programmes don’t tend to support them.
