We just playout in real time and record on the same computer using a Hauppauge HD PVR. Also use this to create M2TS files to create Blu-rays using Toaster.

[Tomislav Rupic] “go into About this Mac-More info-Software and look at 64-bit Kernel and Extensions:
if its NO, then you need to make it boot into 64bit mode.
after that FCPX works much better…”HUH? On an Intel Mac (some exclusions) even if it is set to 32 bit any 64 bit app WILL RUN 64 bit. The only advantage with setting the boot to 64 bit is if you have over something like 96gig RAM.
Snow Leopard will normally boot 32 bit for the drivers but is actually running 64 bit.
Windows, on the otherhand has a 3 gig limit in 32bit. Intel mac running SL is NOT Windows.
Google it if you don’t believe me.Sam Cole

Well Jamie – I understand your post(s).
What I am having trouble coming to terms with is WHY over 1000 professional editors in a room with FCPX as a ‘sneak peek’ would give a ‘standing ovation’ to something that most people NOW say is a ‘consumer product’.
It seems to have brought false hope to many.

[Jamie Franklin] “They unveiled this (to the world of professionals) at an event called the National Association of Broadcasters …”
So I am a little confused here. I saw the video and read the reports. There was a standing ovation; what was that for? I understand that the room was full of professionals. Really? Were they ‘ovating’ the way the folks on stage presented? Were they ‘ovating’ the quality of the overhead projector?
Well as The Who once wrote “We won’t get fooled again”

I think the problem here is that a lot of high profile/high end users on this forum (and the FCP forum) all believed they should have been involved somehow in the development of FCPX; either consulted or beta tested. They were not and have taken a personal offence to it. In someways I don’t blame them.
But to try and drag everyone else along with them is what I don’t like.
For me, I am giving it a go, as a ‘toy’, for the next 3 months so that when the ‘pro features’ are added I will be ‘up-to-speed’ with the workflow and interface.
Its at that time I would be interested if the ‘pro’ community will come crawling back or allow pride to stifle their advancement.
Surely you professionals can see whats going on? Its not rocket science. FCP 7 will live on until people acclimatise . . .Sam Cole

Yup – I agree with you all the way. But we, as an on-line mastering facility have to be able to handle anything a client throws at us.
So I have a client that edited a surf video on FCPX; good for him.
I have to be able to get it out to tape for him. Done.
We go with the flow, we still have 5 FCP 7 edit suites all working well and will be for a while yet. But we will also help those poor unfortunates who hit the brick wall when they can’t go any further with their shiny new FCPX; all audio mixed and colourgraded on their little MBP; thats what Apple want isn’t it?

[Paulo Barcellos] “Yes, it does. Go ahead and upgrade to Snow Leopard.”
“Yes it does” ? What? “Yes it does work with Snow Leopard” or “Yes it does work with FCPX”????
