Let me clarify though- there are four internal drives. The one that is the start up disk and is targeted for FCP documents (video & audio capture, vid & aud render, wave form cache, autosave and thumbnail cache) has 221 GB’s available…

So I really don’t think it’s that… I don’t know, I’m at a loss.

I don’t have Shake installed, but I just did a complete reinstall. I mean COMPLETE. I reinstalled OS X and then FSC 2. I first just reinstalled FSC 2, but had issues again. When I reinstalled the OS, and then FSC 2, the issues are gone.

I am running the latest versions of all the software you listed.

I think you are right! I really have the feeling these newer versions are not really made with the last generation of Macs made…

Thanks for the feedback Walter… Everything is fully rendered before I send it to Compressor. I don’t know it’s very strange…

Umm… Yeah I meant encode, not burn, my bad. I have done what you suggested before, and actually I just did that now. I’m encoding it on my MacBook Pro now, and it’s going MUCH faster than my G5… The thing is David, I know it goes faster with the self-contained QT file, but still, 12 hours? I think I’m just following a normal work flow- exporting to Compressor, and then apply the settings in question… and then I click submit.. don’t know what the issue could be, but I think i’m going to stick with my MacBook Pro for encoding from now on…

By the way if it helps explain, The source material is DVCPRO HD 720p.
