Thanks for the suggestion. The motion tracked camera was sped up like 500% first and then tracked. This is suppose to be composited into a shot as a vfx shot, so in order to match the plate the camera needs to stay the way that it is. Although technically, it could be motion tracked at 100% regular speed, but then the question becomes, how do I speed it up after the fact in c4d so the timeframe is correct? (and so it doesn’t have to render all the frames.

This is an old post but I’m replying because Adobe has since updated media encoder to allow this function. Also this search result shows up in google when searching for this.
If you have a 59.94 video clip and you want to convert it to a slow motion 23.976 clip drop your file into AME and then right click on the footage and select Interpret footage and type in the frame rate you want. Then encode. It’s that simple. I’m glad this is possible now.
This works for all kinds of frame rates to and from.

May 25, 2016 at 7:23 am in reply to: Compositing shadows onto background plate with C4D multi pass causes edge issuesupdate: I figured it out for those searching. When using RSMB vectors on cinema4d multi-pass renders you have to Precomp the blend, shadow, ambient occlusion and whatever else together using the multiply modes inside the precomp where necessary, then take the object buffer and place on top of everything inside the precomp using it as stencil luma. Go to you main comp, add RSMB, then add the shadows and AO underneath the blend channel and use multiply mode to get the shadows and stuff onto the bg footage.

February 13, 2016 at 4:38 am in reply to: Prevent “self collisions” before object hits the ground? Is there a way to program the xpresso to activate the self collisions only if it hits the ground? When the lower most cubes hits the floor it activates self collisions for all of the cubes and the cubes that are still up in the air begin to separate. I want them to separate only when they hit the ground. Is this possible?

February 10, 2016 at 9:14 pm in reply to: Prevent “self collisions” before object hits the ground?Thank you for the zip file, it works perfectly….I think. Is this particular expression linked to the “thrausi fracture object”? because when I have another fracture object in my scene it doesn’t work. But if I “ungroup” and delete the other fracture object it seems to work perfect.
Also, do you know if there is a tutorial out there some where to learn a little bit more about this xpresso command? Thank you for your help!

February 10, 2016 at 8:23 pm in reply to: Prevent “self collisions” before object hits the ground? Is there a way to scale all of them down at the same time relative to their individual anchor points? There’s nearly 1000 blocks. Scaling them down one by one would be very time consuming.

June 3, 2015 at 12:10 am in reply to: How does one render “shadows” and “objects on transparent” separately at the same time?Im not particularly opposed to it, I was just thinking it would take longer/more computer resources to render something with more passes I have to put out. Do you think that’s true? I’m trying to maximize my workflow for a film competition where you only have 48 hours.

June 2, 2015 at 6:01 pm in reply to: How does one render “shadows” and “objects on transparent” separately at the same time? Thanks for the suggestion! I probably should have stated in my original question that I have watched that video and do have the shadow catcher plugin. Only thing is that it combines the object and the shadow together as one image. Is there a way to get the shadow by itself and the object by itself as 2 separate image sequences? The linked image album in my original post has a detailed example of what Im trying to accomplish.

April 11, 2015 at 10:31 pm in reply to: How can i import mov footages with Avid DNxHD codec in premiere or after effect??I know this is an old thread, but I figured out a work around, posting it here just in case someone else is searching.
I have a DNxHD .mov file that i needed to do some VFX to in after effects.
-File plays in VLC (maybe from perian install? Not sure)
-Doesn’t play in QT or Mpeg streamclip
-Can’t be imported into after effectsI downloaded the codec from Avid:
https://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/en423319-File now plays in QT and Mpeg streamclip.
-Still doesn’t import to After effects.Opened file in Mpeg streamclip, converted to prores4444
Did VFX in after effects with the prores file.
Not sure what else to do. Looking at the render queue I see that now I can export to DNxHD. wtf AE? You can export but not import DNxHD? You can be a fickle beast sometimes you know that? I’m Using CS5.5

Hi Ambar,
another user on here pointed out that if you look into your zoom all the way into your timeline and look toward the end of your composition you might find that the keyframes aren’t lined up exactly. Frame 1 is good but the last frame is off by like a 10th of a frame or something. you can fix this by selecting all keyframes and holding alt, clicking the last keyframe and dragging them to the correct location. Should snap into place. I also adjusted the scale a little bit to reflect the size of the room.
While this was in fact an issue for me, after I fixed it, I feel that the track was better but still not perfect. Coming up on a deadline for the project I was working on , I ended up exporting a .mov with a “test object” baked into the video. Then used mocha pro to translate that data, and to be honest with you im still not happy with the results. I wish I could give you more info, but thats as far as I got. Pftrack seems like such a great program I really want to keep using it, but need to figure out how to get it into AE.
