Yes, it’s true cropping a 4K image to cut out a 2K is full res on HD.

But the lens is the lens and with Go Pro it’s a fisheye lens, great for wide angle action shots but not so good for medium shots and useless for closeup shots.

There was a group that would modify GoPro to take interchangeable lenses, allowing the use of C Mount lenses. So do a search and see if they are still around. Also have a look at this product and ponder the possibilities.

And what great work is that? If I may ask. Tearing down VfxPedia and locking it away from those who created it. Fusion without VfxPedia is a great tool without a users manual.Shipping me a Dongle for 7.5 which from what I can tell does little more than the free version. Changing the scripting language effectively rendering Fusion useless in large productions. Where is the network renderslave? Support, it ain’t Eyeon support. Still waiting for an answer since early Sept 2014.

I’m afraid that to me this is a farce perpetrated in the usual BMD fashion of ready fire aim.

I’m not near my Panasonic Cameras at present but if I recall correctly there are three folders and the streams are in the private folder. There must be some code that will concatenate recordings that exceed 4 gig streams and stitch them together into a single file when imported via the software provided by Panasonic. When a foreign file is inserted and this code / software does not include the foreign file name, without a reference as to include the imported file, the camera will ignore the imported file.
That’s as far as I’ve taken my experimentation.

It’s not as simple as finding the right codec, the real trick is to convince the camera that the file is there. I have tried this with my Panasonic AVCHD recorders without success. Just stuffing a file in the right folder does not seem enough. I believe there is a catalog or database involved in the mix so that the camera can generate and associate preview thumbnails.

Well that is a strange duck indeed. I can’t begin to venture a guess as to the cause of the issue. Naturally moving the affected track up or down has been tried or copies of the media have been placed on new audio tracks. And there has been close scrutiny in the audio mixing console. Just to check, all the audio files are the same bit rate and depth, correct?
There are no indications the project is in 5.1 surround sound. Everything appears to be in order.

Perhaps a work around consisting of an EDL export and importing the EDL into a new project, that has worked for me in the past. Another thing worth trying is to see what happens when the “real-time Render” is invoked, does the resulting file display the same issues. If not simply use the resulting files as a replacement of the troubled files on a new track.

No Joe, this is a very common used method know as roto scoping or perhaps it is a combination of mat extractions. These are an advanced skill set learned and mastered by very very patient individuals. There are tools to assist in the process such as Imagineer Mocha or Fusion that has a robust tool set to assist in the process. These are but two tools. There are other tools preferred by roto artists but the names elude me at the moment.

A good roto artist can do the job in a relatively short time, A great deal depends on the amount of fine detail in the subject such as hair or sheer materials but these tools are available to anyone wishing to try their hand at the craft.

Your idea of drawing a mask around a still frame is correct and yes in order to mask out a moving subject the mask must be animated. This is know as a traveling mat.
