Turns out it was the tv settings, thankfully.

I have discovered that is the tv that is causing the problem.
My samsung hd tv is fine, the photo and video match.
I tried it through my computer, opened the photo and ran the video file, both match.

We have an LG hd 3d tv. The video is coming out darker, not sure why.
I will try the video settings, maybe that was the problem all along.

I will report back.

Thankyou for the reply, unfortunately I use Premiere Pro.
I have tried other programs and I get the same result.

Tonight I will try using a jpeg i found online, just in case the issue is my photos.

My processed photos look great as standard jpegs, so I cant imagine that they are the cause.

I will add more when I have done my test tonight.

I guess the tv’s play most types, although 1 tv doesn’t like mkv so id like to stay away from that, just in case.
H264 sounds like a good choice.
I will try out your suggestions.

What output settings should i use? I have seen online that most people suggest using h.264.
Is that ok to use?
There are so many types, im not sure what is the best.

Any help with the preset issue would be really helpful as this is the only hurdle for me.
I know how to edit, add effects, etc
It’s just what preset to use to output a photo slideshow and video project.
Also what sequence settings to use for a photo slideshow and video project.

I have looked online and most information is about posting to youtube, but i want to output to a file that will be put onto a hard drive, which is attached to a large widescreen HD TV.

I will be processing the raw files and saving them as jpegs.
I just want to use premiere for a simple slideshow with fades and titles.
I don’t want to get too fancy at this moment.
I want to get to grips with premiere first.

Just need general help with sequence settings, and output settings to a UK HD widescreen TV.

I tried playing it through my playstation onto my HD TV too and it still looked distorted.
I will try again but I believe that it should look fine whatever field you are using?
I must be missing something simple.

thanks for your help Ann, that really helped me out.
I wonder if I can ask another question please?
I did do a few tests and my title looks doubled.
The title is animated but doesn’t look sharp, it is all distorted.
Could this be related to the lower/upper field issue?
I have read that progressive is for motion titles, etc
If this is the case, would it be ok to create a progressive title with an upper field video?
I hope that makes sense.

i didn’t think of the slow play mode
i take it premiere/encore/ame won’t be able to produce a sp video?
i thought maximum cbr would be better than vbr
if the maximum vbr was 9 and the lowest was 1.5, wouldnt it be better to use cbr 9 so you get 9 all the way through the movie rather than various bitrates?
