Premiere/Encore project won’t fit on DVD
Hi, I have just joined and hope someone can help me.
I have questions about encoding, bitrate, etc.
I think I understand encoding now but my main issue is that I have a 3 1/2 home movie and it won’t fit on a standard DVD if I encode too high.
It fits if it’s set to automatic but the quality isn’t good enough.
I don’t know how I can get the movie onto 2 DVD’s.
Can Encore split a movie in half and burn onto 2 DVD’s or do I have to do it manually in Premiere?
I don’t mind if the movie goes on 2 discs, I just can’t figure out how to do that.

In your APP Sequence, find a spot to break. Cut your program into 2 halves. Separate them by a couple of seconds. Send out to AME and set an out point for section one. Go back to APP, set an in and out point for the second half and send to AME.
Choose the DVD presets. Adjust data rate accordingly.
Import finished files into encore.Chris Tompkins

I am currently testing what the best bitrate, etc to use.
I would prefer to use CBR but i’m not 100% sure on that.
I am trying to burn a holiday video at the best possible quality.
I have compared the quality of the encore dvd with the original footage recorded to dvd using a dvd recorder.
The footage on the dvd from the recorder is much brighter and crisper, almost the same quality as the footage on the camera.
I can’t get close to that quality using encore.
Also is it better to tick “render maximum quality”?
I will test some of this tonight too but I wanted a second opinion from an expert.

VBR will yield better results for quality.
What mode was the stand alone DVD recorder in when you recorded to that?
Did you dump 4 hours to it? B/c if you just recorded a little bit to it in “SP” mode and then you compress several hours on the computer, ya, it won’t look as good.But, use AME for the compression not Encore.

i didn’t think of the slow play mode
i take it premiere/encore/ame won’t be able to produce a sp video?
i thought maximum cbr would be better than vbr
if the maximum vbr was 9 and the lowest was 1.5, wouldnt it be better to use cbr 9 so you get 9 all the way through the movie rather than various bitrates?
