Just another note about the 3-way color filter in FCP is that the image always seems to look like it’s been processed or played with after it’s rendered. It’s not very clean looking.

When I started using FinalTouch, the first thing that I noticed was how clean and sharp the image processing was. It really opened a lot of flexibility to what I could do to an image.

In other works, the quality of the final product is far superior in Color than the 3-way filter.

Sometimes bad RAM can make a system to really strange things. Crucial’s a good company, but if you keep having the problem, try pulling out the RAM to test if the problem still exists.

If you like to use Motion or Color, or if you like to play video games on your mac, I’d go with the 8800. If you’re not into those applications, I wouldn’t spend the extra money.

Motion should work just fine too. I just know and trust AE, so that’s what I use.

I don’t think any of the decklink codecs support alpha channels. You could render the alpha out separately if you wanted to, then combine then in whatever program you’d use.

That’s how I do it too. Not sure what would be causing the problem you’re having.

I use a PSD and AE because I trust AE’s ability to render graphics much much more than FCP. If I have motion blur turned on in AE just depends on if it looks better with the text. I’ve still had work on making it smooth, but the results have been much better than anything in FCP.

I’d suggest using DVCPROHD. It’s very edit friendly.

Photo-JPEG isn’t supported in RT effects and XDCAM is kind of a pain to edit with because it’s so processor intensive to decode.
