You can’t find one because unfortunately, it doesn’t exist. You’re stuck changing it when ever you want a different location.

I would use either Compressor or QuickTime Pro to convert the movie to the codec you’ll be editing in. I don’t like to use Media Manager for compression if I don’t have to.

There are some really great networking options, but as you said that they aren’t an option, I would suggest this:

    https://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/

It will allow you to write to NTFS on the mac. That way you won’t have to deal with the file restrictions on FAT32.

It sounds like the software takes a sample of the code, he looks at it to find out what codec the code is referring to, then re-writes the QT header info to tell QT what the file is. Sounds interesting.

    At $150/clip, it’s a good thing you didn’t loose a whole show:)

Transferring R3D files to ProRes in Log and Transfer is still “Beta”. It works as I used it last week very successfully, but for some reason it is still “Beta”.

That’s how it’s done. You can turn off the track to see what’s under it and then hit undo when you’re done to restore you renders. Depending on what you’re trying to do, you could also do match frame to see the clip underneath.

But you’ve pretty much got it down.

I believe he’s referring to native R3D support in Color.

I’m going to wait until mid June to comment. It just seems like some update (even though it might be a small one) is coming in May.
