I’d like to know too. Also, what happens if you add 29.97 footage that has a 2:3 pulldown to a 23.98 timeline. Does it remove the pulldown or just skips every fifth frame?

    Amen.

And add in there a lack of understanding of 2:3 pulldown!

For memory I only buy it through Crucial.com. Never had a problem with it and we’ve purchased memory for quite a few computers including a Intel Quad.

As far as hard drives go, I’ve never heard of any conflict with the operating system and a hard drive. But they can just die on you. Check out stats on barefeats.com.

May 23, 2007 at 8:59 pm in reply to: Glue Tools DPX Codec???

    I found this:

    https://www.gluetools.com/FUDforum2/index.php?t=msg&th=51&start=0&S=6a50273acfa5cfa408cb26290afe9cbc

It asks the same questions you have. Evidently, you have to render it.

I do know that the Kona 3 will playback DPX sequences in FCP. I’ve seen it for the past two years at NAB without having to render. Walter was acutally demonstrating it this past NAB.

Walter, does Glue Tools work with the Kona 3 or just AJA own DPX translator?

You might try making your final video in FCE a little darker before you export it for iDVD. When you export it just choose File – Export – QuickTime Movie (not QuickTime Conversion). Then take it into iDVD and see how that goes.

Or you can use the Nattress Standards Converter or After Effects to add a 2:3 pulldown if you want to do it yourself, but the Terranex would do an great job it you’re going to take it out of your system.

I guess you could do PhotoJPEG, Animation, or really any codec at full raster, but I guess I’m talking about commonly used or distributed formats.

What codecs are true 1920×1080? Just uncompressed and ProRes? Any others?

    Thanks,

  • But no obvious changes in the black and white points? Cool!

Easiest thing for you to do is just add a 2:3 pulldown using Nattress standards converter and upconverting using it too (or use compressor).

You could also use After Effects to add a 2:3 pulldown.
