I’m buying a few workstations and wondering at the success others have had with non-apple memory and HDD’s in macpro’s.

What are you using and how did it work?

These will be FCP stations cutting mostly DVCPRO HD, so I’m thinking internal raid array with 4gb of memory per macpro. One will be a quad and 2 will be octo’s.

For memory I only buy it through Crucial.com. Never had a problem with it and we’ve purchased memory for quite a few computers including a Intel Quad.

As far as hard drives go, I’ve never heard of any conflict with the operating system and a hard drive. But they can just die on you. Check out stats on barefeats.com.

Yeup, Crucial are excellent, I put 4G into my MP with no problem.

Hard drives? easiest thing in the world to do:-
