If you burned it as an audio CD instead of a data CD, your home computer might have connected to the CD name database and matched it up with a CD from an Asian music artist.
It should still be able to playback though…
You could try to burn a different CD from your computer at work instead and see what happens.

You could save a version of your project for a backup, then delete as many of the unneeded sequences as you can. This will make the file smaller and make autosaves less painful.
Or you can just remember to save your project often (I prefer autosaves).
Either way, you still need to save it somehow which will take time.

If you make the DVCAM master over firewire, there is no loss of data. From there, it would depend if they dub it to DigiBeta over component or SDI (SDI is better).
If you take a file to them, it will again depend if they are making the master over component or SDI.
Because there is no lose of data if you can make a firewire DVCAM master, either solution sounds acceptable.

Three ways come to mind:
1. Select all of the clips and select Sequence – Nest items. That will put all of the clips into one nested sequence. Now just adjust the speed of the sequence.
2. Export the sequence with the clips in it as a QuickTime Movie file that isn’t self-contained. This will make a reference movie. If you do this, be careful where you movie the original files as that can make the movie unreadable. (Or just export it as a self-contained clip if you have enough space.)
3. Change the speed of one clip. Select the clip and select Edit-Copy. Now select the rest of the other clips and select Edit-Paste Attributes, select Speed. That will change the speed on all of the clips.

FCP should scale this correctly when you drop it in and letterbox it automatically.

I rarely use QuickTime Conversion for this reason.

Compressor might be the best option. You could also try FCP media manager or batch export.
Do a couple of tests to see what will work for you.

So select easy set up DV NTSC. Create a new sequence. Drag the clips onto the new sequence and when it asks you if you want to change the sequence settings to match the clip, say no.
Then select file-export-QuickTime Movie and use current settings.
There are several different ways to do it, but this might me one of the easiest to explain.

Nattress is great.
Does your 29.97 footage have a 2:3 pulldown (24P) in it or is it straight 29.97 interlaced?

Many people use MPEG-Streamclip and have good results. If you have a capture card with component in works well too.
