You can just scale it up in the motion tab.

Double click on the clip. That will open it up in the viewer. Then select the motion tab and just crank the scale up.

Interlacing is based on the footage that you’re editing and not the format. What you want to do is make sure you edit at the native footage settings. If you’re exporting it for QuickTime delivery, then it might be work using a deinterlacing filter.

You could try the filter in FCP, Compressor or Motion. You could also get Nattress Standards Converter. It has a nice FCP deinterlaced filter too.

The actual monitors we’re using are the a couple Sony PVM20/L5, some other Sony SD monitors and a Panasonic HD Projector.

You mean to bring change the out or in point to the the playhead’s location?

Place your playhead where you want the edit. Select the end (or beginning) of the clip and hit E on the keyboard.

It should playback fine in FCP6.

If you’re in FCP5, you could put the footage in a 1440×1080 timeline and then export it as a self contained movie. Then bring it in to FCP again.

You could also use compressor.

I like to use DV50 when uncompressed is over kill. It’s a great SD codec.

Or if you’re on a FCP6 system, you might try a SD ProRes codec.

What type of computer do you have? A tower or just a laptop/imac?

If you have a tower, then you could get used decklink card off ebay.

If you need something for a laptop or imac, you might be better off just using two displays and the cinema desktop preview in FCP. Or get an AJA IO LA.

When pasting into the new sequence, turn of the auto select button on V1 ( the button to the right of the lock track button.) Then paste it in.

Because your clip doesn’t match your sequence settings. You’ll want to compare both of them.

If you selected the easy setup after you created your project, just create a new sequence. When you select a new easy setup, it doesn’t change the settings of already existing sequences, just the ones you create from there on.

The only “easy” way I can think of to do that is to drop them into a new timeline and see where it ends.
