Another option that might work for you is hitting Apple+Shift+4, then selecting the area of the canvas. I would only do this for reference stills. Other wise, use QuickTime Conversion.

I’ve had a couple of bad experiences with RAM. I only trust Apple or Crucial RAM.
I’ve seen Crucial RAM shipped in Apple computers before, though they also use other manufacturers too.
Never had a problem with Crucial RAM.

Box inside the box? The only time I’ve seen that is when the image has been cropped.
Here’s a quick run down of how this works.
Turn on wireframe by going to the button with the partial square just above the image in the canvas. Make sure it is selected to image+wireframe.
To scale the image, select the image and go to the corner of the wireframe in the canvas until you see a plus mark. This will scale the image. Hold down shift to change the aspect ratio.
To rotate the image, just go to the edge of the wireframe (not the corner, but any other edge) and the pointer icon will change to a circle with an arrow on it. This will rotate. Hold down shift to rotate in increments of 45 degrees.
To crop, hit C on the key board and select the edge or corner and start dragging.

I like to design the credits in Photoshop and then animate the scroll in FCP, Motion or After Effects.
I don’t like the FCP credits roll title tool. And I can’t stand trying to do anything in LiveType. You can probably get something you like out of it, but I don’t have the patience for it.

If you get a new iMac, FCS2 will run great! They are nice machines.

You can make it a favorite filter that you can apply.
For basic motion settings you could apply the settings to any clip in the browser and then copy and paste the attributes from that clip to a clip in your timeline.

FCS2 is possible, but it depends on if you’re talking about a Dual 2.0 G5 PowerMac or a G3 iMac Special Edition.

The info is either in library/application support/final cut pro system support/custom settings/ or it is the actual preferences. I think it will be a combination of both.
Preferences are in user/library/preferences/final cut pro user data/

What hard drives are you digitizing to?

I’m not sure what causes it. I always thought it was more a factor of processor, ram, and how big your FCP project is.
I don’t know if the graphics card has anything to do with it.
