January 12, 2009 at 10:11 am in reply to: RGB 4:4:4 ingest…turning into YUV in frambuffer???Hi Marc
VTR Exchange most work fine. Check AJA Pref Panel: Inputs must be “Dual Link”. Then VTR Exchange: Compressor “AJA 10-bit RGB”, Source “1080i25 10 bit” (1080p25 may be will work, but this is not important – F-21 will provide You Progressive source). Kona Pref Panel must still show for You “YUV-10b” mode, but when You will press “Capture” or etc Panel must switch to “RGB 10b” immediately . . .best regards

My adds to Bob Zelin message.
We used MacPro 2007 with AJA Kona 3 in slot 3 and Apple 4GB 4Channel or ATTO FC-44ES (less stable) in slot 4. Both lines in x4 mode. We got about 570MB/s Write and 620MB/s Read. Up to 2K playback on Kona3.
Now we migrated to last MacPro 3.2 and I put Kona 3 to clot 3 (x4) and ATTO FC-44ES in slot 2 (x16). We got about 810MB/s Write and 710MB/s Read! Kona 3 work fine up to 1080p 25 RGB Dual Link (2K not tested yet). All things is stable and looks fine. Will continue testing for now.best regards

Hi Arthur,
I had same problems with 2K playback on 10.5.2 system. Then I upgrade to 10.5.3 and all things fine. I can playback 2.5 minutes of 2K in 25fps7 May be You have problems due to You play video from system drive? If You use 1 big RAID with 6 drives for system and video. May be You need Kona 3 5.1 NDD driver? Or may be You need to check preferences for sleep or etc.
best regards

This is very strange situation.
You need to know which of formats used for codecs. Final Cut Pro can’t work in RealTime with 4:4:4 RGB format. Only 4:2:2 for now. We have very stable system with Kona3 and MacPro (early 2007 Year) with Ciprico RAID. It is solid and can do fades^ speed changes and basic color correction in RealTime with 4:2:2 sources . . .best regards
