    Hi Fredric^
Which of codec do You use for Your uncompressed video? If You use AJA RGB codecs it seems unpossible to playback 2 steams transition in FCP for now. If You use 4:2:2 Uncompressed – I thing 5 minutess transition is good for FCP and Apple. I always check with no more 1 minutes.

    Hi Chris,
In old 3.4 drivers from AJA I always selected 1080i26 10 bit output mode and AJA didn’t switch to YUV mode. By the way 5.0 drivers don’t have 1080i25 10bit RGB output mode. Only 1080i25 10bit RGBA mode. I tryed to switch to this mode – its OK picture in Pause/Play fine> But in normal situation used mode must be 1080i25 10bit RGB mode.
And in critical correction I always use MOV>DPX (Color)>MOV (FCP) pipeline.

    Hi to all,
SublimeFilms, the problem which creative_tech described is problem with AJA drivers only. This is old issue haved plase in 3.0 and 4.0 drivers. Only one driver release was this problem fixed – 3.4. The problem is that if You have 10bit RGB timeline in payse Kona switches to YUV mode and in palyback to RGB mode. You can check it in AJA ControlPanel during work. I wrote several times to AJA and wait fixes for now . .

    124.4MB/s, 1 hour – 449GB

    4:2:2 10 bit 30fps
    155.5MB/s, 1 hour – 560GB

    4:4:4 10 bit 30fps

    Hi Luke and Glennser,

About ATTOO FC Card. In my case it was exactly ATTO/MacPro problem. This cadr work fine with Quard G5. May be it very old – about 2 years and have some hardware problems inside. I spend a lot of time with ATTO and Ciprico support to understand what happens with it. At last only we can find – we need send ATTO FC-44ES to RMA in ATTO headquard. Again, but it work fine with G5 🙂

About Apple FC 4GB 4Port board. I hade some troubles with this board too. But it work better than ATTO board in my case. But I got stable work with My Apple FC Board (it is LSI FC board) and our Ciprico MediaVault units. I Download Apple Fibre Cahnnel Utility 2.1.4 and force put all 4 ports from Automatic mode to 4GB mode. Luke< can You try on Your systems this stuff too? It can help You . . .

    Hi Glennser,

I had same trouble with ATTO FC-44ES and BMD Mutibridge/AJA Kona 3. Problem is ATTO FC board. I use lates firmware and drivers for this board. But cann’t got some stable situation. I can reccomend You to do so: install ATTO FC board in slot 4 and BMD or AJA board in slot 3. Then use Slot Utility mode 2 – 16x-1x-4x-4x. Restart. After that ATTO board don’t see in MacPro. Shoot down all system (MacPro, RAIDs and etc) and disconnect power cables from them for 15-30 minutes. After that turn on all things and check System Profile/PCI Cards. You most see both boatds in slots 3 and 4. Work. But if You will reboot and extremelly shut down system You may lost Your ATTO board. Turn off all things and disconnect power cables for 15-30 minutes again.

I changed our ATTO FC-44ES board to Apple 4Gb 4 Port board for this reasons . . .

    Hi.

You can read about this card on Apple site:

    https://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=MA465G%2FA

“This card runs at full bandwidth in a four-lane or eight-lane PCI Express slot. ”

It most work fine in 4x slot mode (16x, 1x, 4x, 4x). I will get t4GB 4 channel board in Aplil (need wait 1 mont) and will test it with our 4210 . . .

December 25, 2006 at 11:31 am in reply to: AJA Kona3 25p or 25psf mode?

    To gary

I’m try 25i setups for now. But Easy Setups from AJA nor usefull for us. I need 25i/25psf 10 Bit RGB setups. And additional setups from AJA < ” target=”_blank”>https://www.aja.com/ajashare/Kona3_Additional_Easy_Setups.tar> not usefull too. They provide support for 50p mode. And when I try to capture video from SRWs i need true 50 frame per second :-).

By the way, does somebody have trobles with capturing? I often get message “VTR trouble. Check cassete bla-bla-bla.” CApture stops. And I didn’t see any reasons to get this message . . .

December 22, 2006 at 6:22 am in reply to: AJA Kona3 25p or 25psf mode?

    Hi Gary!

Thank You for answers. I know about PsF, Progressive and Interlased formats. But I want to now how Kona3 work. We have GrassViley Viper, Sony SRW-1, Sony SRW-5500 in or facility. And 1080p (Psf) and 24p is the main workflow formats for us. And how I can understand all formats 25i, 25psf and 25p on Kona 3 is always 25i. Only I need is to set in FCP Field Dominanse – None for projects. Or I need to do something else?
