Drive Question?

is this a trick question –
there isn’t one person on this list that isn’t using either a Fibre card or SATA card (the only exception are users that are using FW800 drives). That’s what EVERY ADD on the left and right of this forum is about – SATA and Fibre channel storage companies that are used with FCP and AJA. Or am I missing your question (no, no one is using SCSI drives with their FCP systems anymore).

Hi Wayne,
We use Apple 4Gb 4 port Apple FC board and 2 Ciprico MediaVault 4210 units. All system work fine with about 600MB/s Read/Write. We had ATTO Cerenity FC44ES, but it have some troubles with 1st gen MacPro.

Actually, what I am asking is… Does anyone use eSATA drives (an eSATA card in slot 2) along with an ATTO fibre channel card at the same time in the same system?

We need more space but with today’s economy, an upgrade to our TerraBlock is out of our budget… So, we have to have more space to do more projects. We were thinking of adding eSATA local storage to each of our systems and using the TerraBlock for immediate projects only.

We do lots of programs and being able to get ahead by logged and capturing ahead of time would be a real time saver for episode edits, thus the local storage for temporary storage until the project needs to be edited. And sometimes, we all get those little projects that don’t need to talk up room on the TerraBlock.
