    Glad to help!

For people that feel mocha Pro is not in their price range, I encourage you to join the Imaginer Systems mailing list. Black Friday/Cyber Monday is coming soon! 😉

    Just to clarify:
mocha AE CC (ships free with After Effects Creative Cloud) and does include both planar tracking and roto (with and a simple copy/paste masks directly into the AE mask channel). Note: mocha AE CC is launched from the AE animation menu.

mocha AE CC is designed specifically for After Effects users but there is a stand alone version mocha AE v3.2 that also exports tracking to Motion, FCP 7 and Boris FX.

mocha Pro is the top of the Imagineer line with extra advanced modules including the ability to render external mattes, object removals, stabilization and support more systems. Any registered user of mocha products (including the CC bundle) qualify for the $795 upgrade to mocha Pro.

For more information, you can view the compare products chart:
    https://www.imagineersystems.com/compare-products

For what it is worth, most mocha users report about a 40% time savings for planar tracked roto vs manual keyframing. It all depends on the job and how much you can charge clients.

The great thing about SliceX with mocha is the ability to do some of this masking work directly in the edit timeline, at a fraction of the cost.

    Best,
    Ross

If you need to do a lot of dedicated roto & masking work, I would recommend trying mocha Pro.

SliceX is excellent for tracking masks but can limited simply by the fact that it is a plug-in. For example, many roto jobs require breaking up an actor into multiple layers (head, torso, limbs, etc). Mocha Pro is made for these type of tasks with unlimited layers, whereas you would get pretty bogged down in SliceX with 1 mask shape on each instance of the plug-in.

If you use the transform tool and hold shift + option key, you can do a global scale from center by clicking on the corner and dragging.

I believe what you want is different and currently not available within mocha. Easiest thing is to grow the mask from AE or another app.

I can log this as a feature request.

I have seen this a long time ago and it relates to AE corner pin being too far out of range.

Are you sure your tracking looks proper in mocha?
What export are you choosing? (AE with motion bur or standard corner pin?)

You could also look into using mochaImport script from AE scipts.

Beyond this, I would need to look at the project to trouble shoot.

You can find the Align Surface button in the documentation:
    https://www.imagineersystems.com/support/Documentation/interface-overview#idp290896

If you do not have a Layers Control displayed, go to View>Layers Controls. There is an icon on the bottom for Align Surface next to the trash/delete icon.

You can find an icon for “Align Surface” underneath your layer list.

The best way to help is send your a copy of your project to Imagineer Systems support. https://www.imagineersystems.com/company/contact_form

Re-reading your original post, are you trying to apply corner pin tracking to a text layer? If this is the case, than you would need to pre-comp the text layer, than apply the track data. Because of the way the AE corner pin effects works, the inserts should be the same size as composition.

There is a more advanced way to “set the surface to full frame” by using “align to surface button” before export in mocha, but I would focus on the simpler method to solve your issue.

    Good luck,

October 25, 2013 at 6:13 pm in reply to: Mocha AE CC – disappearing keyframes

This sounds strange. Maybe the obvious, but the roto keyframes only show up if you have a point selected. If you have the overall layer selected, they will not show. If you select a point, than they should appear. If not, please contacts mocha support at: https://www.imagineersystems.com/contact_form and send your project.

Also just to mention, mocha AE CC now has a dopesheet which is a keyframe editor. If you select the dopesheet and twirl down to the layers, you will find your individual keyframe for every animated point.

    Hope this helps.

Hi there.. I would need more info to help solve your issue. Try this:

First, you need to make sure that mocha tracking looks good within mocha by turning on the blue surface icon. This blue rectangle represents the corner pin data. If your track does not line up at this step, you need to fix the mocha track. If good, continue…

Next, export your corner pin data directly to AE (for now bypass the mochaImport script) to trouble shoot. Simply copy the corner pin for AE to clipboard.

Next, in AE create a solid that is the same size as your comp and footage. Paste the corner pin to this. Does it line up?

If it does not line up, your issue is either frame rate, pixel aspect OR your insert layer is not the same size as the comp.

There are many tutorials online at https://www.imagineersystems.com/videos to help troubleshoot.

    Hope this helps.
