I’ve had this low memory thing before, but I knew what it was for.
I have too many projects and sequences open and thus got the error warning.
closed a lot of unecessary stuff up and problem fixed.

a few editors at our facility use tablets.

They simply use it to replace the funcionality of a mouse. Why relearn how you use avid??

They don’t use the inbuilt shortcuts on the tablet and i don’t for GFX and image work either.

Keep doing what you’re doing, but with a pen as a mouse. Can take a bit of getting use to though…

Are you doing assemble or insert?? Have you set the correct In Point or are you crashing onto tape??

Are you using In/Out points because i think this may cuase a problem…

Either way, we’ve got this problem and thus black the tape and create bars from the effects tab. We also do this in our avid suites.

    Hey,

I am under the impression that no project can have both SD and HD.

Not knowing anything about your setup, I’ll explain what we do.

In this case we would offline in SD. Duplicate the finished sequence into a new bin. Modify that sequence into desired HD format. Create new HD project and import that bin. Online sequence.
Alternatively, work only in HD (We often do the SD to HD workflow because we charge more for HD time).

    Hope this helps.

    Hmmm,

The import P2 option came with MC 2.7.

Avid has a pretty good downconvert in the video output and is something we use often.

Why are you online-ing the project in Avid. Might as well just stay in FCP, it has great P2 functionality at the moment. Whilst color correcting in Avid is probably easier, is it worth the transfer effort and costs??

I’m guessing money is the reasoning behind FCP.

Don’t know the size of the project, but maybe getting P2 transfered to tape?? If it was on tape then you could just Digitize SD and wouldn’t get charged at an HD rate.

However, we’ve never run this workflow either, so i’d also love to hear any success stories. My guess is export EDL from FCP then import P2 into Avid based on that EDl, but that’s a complete guess.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the reply!!
    1. Already done.
    2. Avenue Ensemble Designs Sig Gen. All direct (no loopthrough)
    3. Not sure what this is but we’ve always had our decks on 4F. What change is this meant to make?
    4. 5 sec pre-roll. As this is an intermittent issue, we’ve agreed to leave this.
    5. The problem has occurred on different tapes.
    6. None that we’ve noticed. The thing with issues like this is that nothing is changed and then one day it just starts happening. I would like to say age for the deck, but it isn’t really that old.
    7. Already have.

Thanks though. With your points in mind we’ll keep an eye on the system and hope the problem goes away.
Hope you’re enjoying the heat and humidity. I’m struggling to…
