What is your output being used for? If you are going to DVD, send it to compressor right from the time line and then into DVD Studio and it will look great. If you need to upload to the web compressor has a preset that works well too. If you are making a Blu-ray disc export it as an Apple Prores file and import that into Toast or whatever you use for BD.
Editing online in FCP is the way to go as there is usually no reason to do offline editing since you are not using tape. Just edit and export! Have fun.

Yes, according to the manual SP is indeed HDV spec. not full HD.

I’m not sure this would work but how about converting it to HDV? Studio can read that codec.

I had the same problem when I used Final Cut Studio 2 which has FCP 6. The best I could do was export from the time line as a Prores 422 file and import that into compressor. Then choose the highest bit rate possible to still get your project to fit on the disc. Make sure you are using the 2 pass high quality setting. I use a Sony EX-3 so our footage should work the same. I still got average quality until I upgraded to Studio 3. Then I got great quality SD DVD’s.

I have your second option and would highly recomend it. You only have one clamp per leg so it is very fast to set up. The head is great as well. BUY IT!

I too have had a hard time knowing if the power was turned off. I have had times when I thought I turned it off and then put the camera away for a few hours only to come back to a dead battery. Thankfully I had another battery but I agree that this is my main problem with the camera. You shouldn’t have to look closely to see if the power is on or off.

I totally agree. I have the same setup and wouldn’t trade it for anything. I carried it and my EX-3 all over Romania last year and was glad for the lighter weight and quick setup time. You won’t be sorry if you can just afford it.
