I am using class 6. It has a red stripe across it. I have heard that some work fine and others don’t. I am also still using the original firmware on my EX-3. I have read that upgrading the firmware makes more cards work but I have not done that yet.

Hmm, I have been using a 32 gig Transend card for several months with no problem. I have run it for 2 hr. straight through and cranked to 46 fps with no problem. Over 46 and it spat out an error.

If you shoot a with your camera set up right so you have a good picture to start with your footage will hold up just fine in color correction using 4:2:0. I have been doing it for two years with a Sony EX-3 and for normal shooting there is no problem. You can push the picture quite far with ease. It does have a little more problem pulling a key than 4:2:2 but otherwise you will not have a problem. This is from my experienc not just theroy. There are also people who bash the Long GOP cameras as well but in my opinion they have never tried them. They work and edit just fine. Good luck.

It looks like they shot in slow motion and then cut the clip to speed it up at a certain point. Also they added a vignette and then blurred the edges.

One more thing. ALWAYS monitor your audio with earbuds or headphones. This is critical when using a wireless mic in case it goes bad for any reason.

You will not have time to monitor the audio via manual controls. You can be making an adjustment with focus or exposure and all of a sudden you have a loud or soft audio that you don’t have time to adjust for. If you have another person doing audio I would do manual but as a one man band you don’t have the time. Also if you don’t have time to make a picture profile just set both cameras to their default setting and they will match.
To set your mind at ease just go over every detail that you can think of ahead of time. Good planning will save you all sorts of problems. Make sure both cameras are set to the same frame rate, gain level and white balance. This alone will same you all sorts of problems later in editing. When on set and shooting try to follow your instincts. You have the knowledge so have confidence in your ability. Good luck!

I would just use one G2 mic and leave the gain control on auto. That should cover the loud and quiet parts just fine. It has worked for me. Then when you edit do a multi camera edit to cut the cameras together using just the audio from the camera that has the G2 plugged into it.

As I recall XDCAM Transfer shows the master clip with a check box in the lower right portion of the screen and then it breaks the clip out into 13 min subclips that you can check as well. It has been awhile since I have used a SDHC card so I am going from memory here. Maybe someone else can weigh in on this. If you check the master clip box it will load the whole clip regardless of how long it is. SDHC cards take about 3 times as long to download as SxS cards though.

Also, remember that SDHC cards record only 13 minutes in a file before creating a new one so that is normal. These files can be played back to back with no problem but the file structure is about 13 minutes max.

You could also use a G Tech G Safe or a Caldigit VR in RAID 1 and keep an extra drive off site for safety. That way you always have a mirrored drive in case one fails at your work station and a safe one kept somewhere else.
