How do i duplicate this shot and effect.
Hey guys,
I experimented with my hvx200 camera but im not sure if its just an effect on fcp or a high speed camera that they use.

Effects on seconds 19 and 51. It seems like they’re using reels for smoothness and using an effect to speed the video and than slowing it down. I want to learn how to do that. In 51 they do again but its much better with the water freezing.
Final cut’s control of speed is really limited. Is there an effect to have more control of speed? All i know is the speed %. But no manual control like the ones in sizing and moving video. Should I shoot in faster frames per second?? i can go up to 60fps.
Any ideas?

It looks like they shot in slow motion and then cut the clip to speed it up at a certain point. Also they added a vignette and then blurred the edges.

Looks like the Twixtor plug in to me. https://www.revisionfx.com/products/twixtor/
The radiant lighting (light streaks? Not sure what you call that) can be acheived with a fun set of plug ins called “Too Much Too Soon.” https://www.mattias.nu/plugins/
The latter ones are free, Twixtor is expensive though.

I second Kate. This definitely is something twixtor would be able to do. A few things to consider are to shoot at the highest fps possible (most likely 60p) and for the shots you are going to slow down, you may want to speed up the shutter to something pretty high. You do want to motion blur for most of your footage for that film look, but if you plan on slowing it down drastically and work with something like twixtor a staccato look would work better since each frame is much sharper and crisp.

Take the clip you want to retime and make adjustments in motion union optical flow retime, then looks like a selective focus plugin or effect in FCP or motion and the retime is super easy in FCP after motion is done with it.
