Had the same problem while shooting in Europe. Never could fix it in post. Solved the problem the next time by changing shutter speed tk 1/50.
Hopefully somebody will have a fix in post for you.

I have been with Edius (Grass Valley) since the early 90’s. I came from premier at that time to Canopus Rex Edit 1.0 and never looked back. Edius will run on a Mac platform but runs best on a PC running Windows 7 and now is 64bit. The slogan for Edius is “Edit Anything”. All you have to do is put it on the timeline and press the space bar…Really!!! I can mix 1920x1080i with ACHVD of any flavor along with SD 720×480, XDCAM, DSLR footage and press the space bar. You should give it a look. I am running 6.54 on a PC running Windows 7 and it is solid without crashes. The latest version that just came out is 64 bit Ver 7. Give it a look

The Sony Ex-3 is an outstanding camera…. I always shoot with manual white balance on both the ex-3 and Ex1R. If you pan your camera and you have it on auto white balance and during your pan you come across a large white obect the White balance will change and you will see a color shift in your video. I use Doug Jenson’s Doug 1 profile for out doors and it has a preset for daylight. For night time shooting and indoors I still use his profile but manually set my white balance.
This may not be good advice so if there are others out there please express your recommendations.
Works for me.
Good luck

I guess I am a purist at heart. When I shoot stills I use my Canon DSLR and when I shoot video I use one of my EXDCAM cameras. Ex1R, Ex-3, or PMW 320.
If I want a “film look” I shoot film. When shooting sports where there is a lot action I really like the EXDCAM cameras. Often I shoot dirt car racing in low light conditions at night and shoot as long as 2-3 hours. There are times where the cars are moving at over 100mph and my Ex-1R is shooing at f 1.9. I need all the DOF I can get.
So my recommendation is to select the best tool for the job at hand.
Take Care

What I have found is that If I use the large Sony battery with the EX-1R and a piece of foam attached to it, the camera will rest on my collar bone and the Hoodman eye piece is perfect. I have to cock my head just slightly to make it fit perfectly. Last fall I shot about 80 gigs of footage in Ireland in a run and gun situation and just left the Hoodman on the camera all the time. ( Of course being careful not to bang it on anything.) I used Doug Jenson’s PP “Doug 1” and the results were outstanding. The weather was bad and over cast much of the time but the images I recorded were amazing. This was credit to the camera not me. I use a shoulder brace with the Ex-3 and it is a bit heavy and hard to use when you are moving about quickly. In my experience the Ex-1r has given me the most bang for the buck in any camera I have owned.

The only weak point that I have noticed with the Ex-1-r is the viewfinder. I bought a Hoodman adaptor that turns your fold out
screen into an excellent view finder. It will also work extremely well in sunlight. The ex-3 and the PMV 320 both use the fold out screed for the view finder. Outstanding resolution.Ronnie

I have shot many hundreds of hours with the Sony Ex family of cameras. The Ex-1, ex-1r, ex-3, and 320 and have never shot anythong on auto. I have used the push auto iris and push auto focus to get basic set up and then adjust acordingly. Most of the time I set my gain for that will allow f stops at 4.0 or 5.6. When out doors in the daytime I am usually at -3 or zero with gain. There have been times that I had to bump the gain up in low light situations to 9dB with the iris almost wide open and still got superb images with little or no noise. White balance is ususlly set up with warm cards and the picture profile I use is by Doug Jenson called Doug 1. I would recommend getting his dvd on the ex-1 with the ex-1r update. It is excellent and you will learn a lot about the camera from Doug.

I agree you are making it complicated. I use my HP laptop that has the reader for the Sony cards built in or if using another laptop the sony reader to copy the cards to the laptop hardrive. Then I just copy then again to a Passport USB 3 1 TB external hard drive. That way I have the source clips in two places. The real safe way is to have enough cards to capture the project without downloading them in the field. I have shot hundreds of hours with the Sony pro cards with my original EX-1 and now with my Ex-1R. Our other cameras also use the same cards. Sony PMW 320 and Ex-3.
I prefer to use the KISS system…. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. and I do stupid things continually.
Hope this helps
