Buy an Avid, then… ;O)
You couldn’t drag me away from FCP.

And, if you do want to back them up to disk, Toast Titanium 7 finally offers the option to spread across disks.
I used Toast to make images of each installer, then you go to Toast data tab and choose ‘Mac Only,’ then drag all those images into the tab and it will tell you how many disks it will take and burn away…
Gotta love that!
A small app is burned onto each disk that you use to restore the data. Cool.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t 2-fields only visible when the Canvas is set to 100%? Try increasing or decreasing the Canvas display, perhaps.

It’s Digital Rights Management. A lot of recorder and dvr boxes have ieee ports that don’t even do anything.

Chris, does the Panasonic actually use a FW port in from your Mac?

Ah, that’s cool. That’s exactly what I was wondering. Haven’t had hands on with HD gear yet, but I was guessing this was the case.
Thanks, Sean!

Monica…
Yes, this is something you definitely learn from experience after using the program for a huge project.
You could consolidate to a clean drive, definitely, or you could start a new project and just move what you need into it and work with the existing media. I think, based on my own experience, it’s most important at this stage to reduce the load inside the project itelf (number of sequences, clips, subclips, etc) and see if that helps. Try taking only your main sequence into a fresh new project and see if that helps.
Have you lost any data? Or is your project file opening okay?
Consolidating will streamline your project and create a new project for you, too, so I don’t think you can go wrong with that. What I’d do, though, to be safe, is make Media Manager *copy* with the ‘delete unused media’ checked and target a new drive for the media. That way, you will consolidate, but still have your original media intact as a backup (until you can ensure everything is okay and then you could just get rid of it, if that’s what you want to do).
Hope that helps!

May 19, 2006 at 1:26 pm in reply to: converting to Sorenson fullres quicktime – deadline looming!!I don’t think Sorenson is really meant for this, but I’m not 100% sure. I’d try Photo-JPEG if you’re just trying to reduce file size and retain quality.

BTW (if you’ve read my post below)…
If you’re having trouble even opening FCP, try unplugging your FW drive before booting up your Mac and launch your project. That way, all your media files should be offline. That way, you should at least be able to save a backup of your current project file.
