I could have looked at your signature line! Duh!

I’m going to order it, Walter. Looking forward to it.

Are there any good classes making the rounds to teach Color? Or, second-best: well-done tutorials?

Yes. Buy a Sony Direct-to-DVD burner for $200. Play directly from your tape deck or your timeline into that device and it will create DVDs in realtime.

Ron Craig mentioned he can do titles. please tell me the circumstances.
HD, SD, where the titles come from?

They were very simple titles done inside FCP. SD material. Nothing fancy.

I posted this issue earlier in the week, reporting the same problem with dissolve failures using Flip4 Mac…even after I rendered the timeline. The only way I could get the dissolves into the .wmv file was to export the piece as a self-contained QT first and then re-import to FCP before exporting again with Flip4Mac. It did not have a problem with titles; they came out fine.

Chris mentioned above that two-pass VBR encoding is a problem with Flip4Mac and that’s what I was using. Is anyone here getting accurate .wmv exports — including dissolves — using a choice other than 2-pass VBR? Anyone have any more information about that apparent bug? Anyone know if it’s being worked on?

    Hi Jeremy,

Sure. I use the generic one online: info at bestimageproductions (then the dot and then the c o m)

One possibility is a problem with electrical wiring, and Jeremy’s question, above, is an important one in that regard. I’m unfortunately not at expert at wiring so all I can do is raise the possibility — not give you a solution. Others here can help more on that.

Another thought is sync. Are you delivering a sync/blackburst signal to the Kona card, the deck and the monitor?

Did AJA say they were rewriting it or is that your presumption?

Hi. It’s my presumption. The fellow I spoke to in tech support said to report back on the results after I implemented their proposed changes. He said he would pass that information along to the guys in (hmmm…what department did he say? Engineering, or something like that.)
