    sounds bad…

probably vista’s fault. I hate that OS. Made me switch to a Mac.

  • make sure the masks have the same amount of points, which I believe will help with the interpolation.

I’ve never attempted this before, so take all I offer with a grain of salt, but I believe the mask interpolation will benefit from making the points all bezier points and making the angular points stay angular by adjusting the bezier handles, that way they can smoothly make the curves happen in the morph.

unless I’m way off on that…

Check out a program for the mac called VisualHub. It converts from quicktime to just about any other format that’s worth worrying about. You can try it out free and use it for up to a two minute file without buying it. Of course, you should buy it just because it’s pretty cool and useful.

Form is the better one to use.

You can make a layer of particles, use another layer to control the color, and then use another layer to control particle dispersion.

particular isn’t going to do what you want to do.

    are you exporting or rendering?

RENDER don’t export… with that said, I haven’t had any problem rendering out with the Animation codec and getting 32 bit renders to look right with the superwhite technique. If you do that, you can then convert that footage to another compressed format.

I think you are choosing a format that is not 32 bit.

I know what you’re talking about… it was popular as hell for a while. You should be able to find info on how the effect was done.

    https://dvcreators.net/discuss/showthread.php?t=1847

apparently it was done with the camera itself, but it’s using a high shutter speed, and a 45 degree shutter angle. Then the film is developed using a technique that desaturates the images.

so, maybe you could simulate the effect, but I think you need a camera capable of a shutter speed of like 10000 to get that no motion blur effect.

  • you should be able to just add another camera and trim the layer to begin where the other camera ends… so you could duplicate the layer, or even split the layer (not sure if that works, but it should) and add the expression to the second camera layer.

add a wiggle expression to the position of the layers. You can also wiggle the size a bit too.

other than that, you’d probably have to do it by hand. I kind of like the choppy look myself, so I would animate them moving and toggle hold keyframes on to get them to jump around. I’m not sure how to do that same effect with an expression, but I’m sure it can be done.

you don’t render clips in the render queue, you render comps. Drag the clip or other elements you want to use to the new comp icon in the project window, then instead of export, hit CTRL M to “make movie” which adds the comp to the render queue.

then you can render stuff out.

you might want to go to https://www.videocopilot.net/basic/ and go through the basic training tutorials. This should get you familiar with the interface and conventions of After Effects.
