there are updates to the trapcode plugins for CS3, but the demo versions should have the latest updates available.

Make sure you select the proper version of After Effects in the installer. The plugins for CS3 are installed in a centralized Adobe plugins folder, not in the After Effects plugins folder (of course, you can always move them into the After Effects plugins folder if you prefer… you just won’t have them available for other Adobe software, like Premier.

Andrew Kramer has a “zoom out from over a city out into space” on Video Copilot (www.videocopilot.net) which you might be able to use for a template, in reverse order.

    THANK YOU!!

I’ve been trying for weeks to duplicate the effect on the trapcode site, but haven’t gotten it quite right. Now I know what’s going on with it.

I guess I should have posted here asking for it too…

  • the smoke effect, as near as I can tell, would be achievable in Trapcode Particular.

    the liquid, I don’t know…

You could also parent layers to a null and try it that way… do a nested comp and parent that to the null.

many ways to effect multiple layers, but none are ideal in my experience.

well, you could animate the background whizzing by (clouds, birds, airplanes, smog, rooftops, etc) which would let you basically keep the focus on the objects, while creating the illusion of motion.

April 23, 2008 at 8:15 pm in reply to: Speed up Render times and efficiency

the hardware RAIDs won’t help at all with rendering, but might make accessing video footage a bit faster and smoother. RAID is mainly concerned with either having large volumes for storage, fast throughput, and/or data backup and redundancy.

None of which will improve render times.

As far as GridIron, I’m no expert. I really don’t get it though… I want all my machine available for the task at hand. If I needed to work and render at the same time, I’d set up network rendering on another machine, but your mileage may vary.
